Need to buy Epcot tix to dine there?
The best dining options on Disney property are not inside the parks, therefore you do not need to pay a cover to get to them. Try Shula's or Bluezoo that are in your hotel. Or do Jiko, Boma, California Grill, or any other of the foodie-worthy outlets on property.
Before White Zinfandel, there was...
Zima. Anyone? Come on, I know I wasn't the only one...
Things I ate/drank in college that I will never eat again
Some of the things I will never try again: Jagermeister; Soy Sauce shots (yes, just regular soy sauce, and don't ask); Natural Light Ice, Mickey's Ice, Olde English, and Smirnoff Ice. Just a starter list, and I think I may have actually consumed all of those various things in one night.
J Alexanders Orlando
My family and I were invited to the J. Alexander's soft opening last night. I've never been to one before, and we were all impressed. The portions were large, but the NY Strip I had was cooked perfectly (rare) and had great smoky flavor from the hickory grill. My son's cajum prime rib was delicious. Grouper with alfredo was fine, but not as excellent as the meat dishes. Service was top-notch, if not a bit corporate-feeling, and it seems like a great option for everyday dining taken up a notch. You never know what to expect from a grand opening night, but they definitely succeeded.
Orlando...and here comes Heather
Interesting since the reviews will no longer be anonymous... will they be pre-announcing every restaurant visit now, and wearing OS-logo shirts to dinner?
Recommendations between Winter Park and Orange City
The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park. K in College Park. Either way is delicious...
The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park -- great new place!
My wife and I finally got to go there last night (having a toddler really doesn't make it easy to eat out) and I must say it is still rocking and the food was absolutely delicious. I can't remember our server's name, but it would appear that any early-on service issues have been addressed. The ribeyes were amazing, but the star of the show was the bone marrow starter. Everyone at the table was hesitant, but we all went for it and it was amazing. Keep up the good work Lee and crew.
ISO Monte Cristo sandwiches in Orlando
Jungle Jims in Orlando is gone. The LBV location is now something else even less memorable.
Little Saigon in Orlando closed?
My wife went there today for lunch and said there was a bright orange sign on the door saying it was closed by the health department? Has anyone else heard about this? I know their food quality has slipped over the years, but that is disturbing...
Wine Prices
For shear price and selection, when in Florida find a Total Wine & Spirits. There's one in Jacksonville that you could spend an entire day inside of. They have great prices and a massive selection.
ISO Monte Cristo sandwiches in Orlando
Supposedly the Bennigans near Disney are franchises and are still open...
Inexpensive Orlando recs for Philly hounds
I definitely second the Tasty Wok recommendation! One of my familiy's favorite spots.
Pizza in Orlando
I agree that the service at MM is always too mellow, but the food has always been worth it. We just get an extra pitcher of beer...
Pizza in Orlando
Best pizza in Orlando? Two words: Mellow Mushroom.
It's not NY style or anything, but it's damn good.
Argentinean Malbec recommendations?
Altosur or Finca Sophenia. Both are high-altitude (4000 ft), estate-bottled. The Altosur should be available for around $10. The FS is only slightly more.

Orlando - Simple, American Cuisine?
Since you're going to be in the downtown area, here are some suggestions:
Urban Flats - flatbreads galore!
La Boheme - fine dining excellence
Kres - modern steakhouse
The Beacon - ultra-modern lounge
HUE - ultra cool atmosphere, great seabass
CityFish - fish & chips, casual
Harvey's Bistro - solid, American bistro
O'Naturals - organic, sustainable, lunch counter
That should be enough to get you started. I'm sure you'll get plenty more suggestions, but those are some great options with a variety of price ranges and styles.
macaroni grill in roseville [Moved from Midwest Board]
Their chicken does come in pre-grilled and sliced, however...
Brunch in Orlando
I've heard good things about the HGC. I second the vote for the Gaylord Palms. Mustard-crusted salmon... mmmmm....
Last Minute Orlando - No Reservations
Cowboy ribeye at Vines Grille on Sand Lake Road. Or Johnnie's Hideaway has an amazing outside waterfront deck and very good food if the weather is nice, and it's very close to Disney.
wine pairing for asian foods
Lawsons Dry Hills makes a phenomenal Gewurz. Kim Crawford and Villa Maria as well. They should all be far below $40, and they're definitely worth a try.
wine pairing for asian foods
For Asian, spicy cuisine, I reach for a Riesling from the Mosel or Gewurztraminer from New Zealand or Alsace. Try it out...
Orlando-No more Scott Joseph
I just heard that too. It's a trend of old-school media. They're all cutting costs wherever they can. I personally think they could have cut any number of other reporters instead...
Anniversary Dinner Orlando
My wife and I always love K Restaurant. If you want creative, call ahead and ask for Scott to do a multi-course tasting menu for you. If it's not a weekend, he'll probably do it. Just tell him what you want to spend, and he may be able to work some magic.
Dinner in Orlando - staying at Grand Lakes Ritz Carlton
I agree - Norman's and Primo are very good restaurants. If you need to get out of the hotel though, go to Restaurant Row and try Moonfish, Vines or Seasons 52 - they all have great atmosphere and great food.
Holidays 2008 in Orlando
Call today, get 7pm reservations at California Grill in Disney. Amazing food, better view.
Good seafood place in Orlando to impress a couple New Englanders?
FishBones is a mini-chain with two locations from a larger restaurant company that also owns MoonFish. FishBones is more reasonably priced.
I've also enjoyed Grouper & More in Baldwin Park, located just outside of downtown. It's more of a fish & chips kind of place, but the fish is fresh and tasty and priced well. Plus, there's a Cold Stone Creamery next door for dessert... :)
