Leslieville ice cream and gelato
First there were none and now there are three! Ed's was the first (Queen East and Logan) and I was not wowed. The ice cream and gelato selection, although large and interesting, lack flavour. The smell of the homemade waffle cones certainly draw a crowd, but I'd say "pass".
I just sampled some gelatos at Leonida's on Coady, just up from Queen East and they get my vote! The company she orders from imports all ingredients from Italy, with the exception being the mango, which they get from India. They were delicious and she makes beautiful chocolates too.
Haven't tried Cream - the urban dairy...yet.
The Un-Official "Go To" Restaurant Thread
Utopia - College and Clinton. The best "burritos", but I hear the burgers and the nachos are killer too.
politica on adelaide
This place is a gem...menu is not that interesting, but everything is done very well. Pizza, mains and salads are all worth it.
Caterer for Wedding
Kindred Spirits, Queen east at Greenwood. Did our wedding for 100 with wonderful passed appetizers and food stations....we did poached salmon and beef tenderloin with summer salads.
Restaurants to take a date...
Blowfish at King and Bathurst....you'll need a reservation, but great share plates.
HELP - Need suggestions for places that serve late lunches
Utopia on College for crazy good burritos is my favourite. Another goodie is Island Foods for rotis on King, just east of Dufferin.
Another bad Dangerous Dans post
We were in on Sunday night at about 8pm...unfortunately, the 9 or so patrons that were seated before the Slayer show at the Opera House (yikes) really threw the owner/head chef off his game. He was "in the weeds" for our entire stay, shouting demeaning slander at his line cooks. We each ordered a signature burger, with everything and shared a small poutine. Burgers were pink and uncooked and the poutine was cold mush in a bowl of gravy. Nasty. Don't bother.

Southern Italian yum
Just tried Lil' Baci (892 Queen East) in Leslieville and was very impressed. The pizza rivals Terroni. Three of us shared two salads (house and roasted beet) and then two pizzas (Lil' Baci white pizza and the Polpetino with baby meatballs). It's small, but there's a back patio and is open on Monday.
Brunch with snooty relatives and toddler?
A little quieter option would be Fare in Leslieville. Great menu and wine list and they take reservations.
