Little Rock Recs
I will be in Little Rock all week and am looking for some new places for both lunch and dinner in the downtown and/or financial district areas. On business and have been to some good spots here in the past, but just looking for some new ones.
Panhandle dining--Seaside, Santa Rosa Beach and Panama City
Try Restaurant Fire on 30A in Grayton Beach.
First time to Boucherie
Follow up to Friday night. They did get their liquor license and do have awine menu in place. As for the food, everything was tasty. And you absolutely cannot beat the prices. We started with the boudin balls, blackened shrimp and grit cakes, and a duck confit with soba noodles. The boudin balls were tasty, but I wasn't crazy about the texture. They must puree the meat, rice, seasonings all together and then fry them. I like mine more meaty. The garlic aoili was nice though. The shrimp and grit cakes were delicious. Great flavor, probably the best thing we had all night. The duck confit was nice, too. The broth was a little sour tasting, and I love vinegar. The fiancee did the pork cake, which honestly I wasn't crazy about. It was little dry. Good idea, I just didn't love how they executed it. I had the smoked brisket with fries. It was great. Nice smoky, sweet brisket. Very tender. And the fries were awesome. I enjoyed my entree very much. All in all, we really enjoyed it, I was just not overly excited. I will definitely return. I know they are rotating menu items and I saw a few other things that I definitely want to try. As for a vegetarian option, they were running a sweet potato gnocchi when we went, so there are some options there.
First time to Boucherie
Going to Boucherie tonight for the fiancee's b-day. Any recommendations? Everything on the menu looks pretty tasty. Also, what type of attire do they require? Are jeans innappropriate?
First time to Clancy's
I'm going to Clancy's for the first time this evening. For those of you who are fans, what are the can't miss menu items?
mussels
i see. how's that space? is it large? I loved the cozy atmosphere at Iris. I can understand wanting a larger space, but I hope they don't lose that atmosphere.
creole in metairie...fury's, mr ed's, austin's or...?
Restaurant Cypress - near Transcontinental and West Esplanade. Far better than Austin's. I wouldn't really consider Fury's "creole" although the food is usually really good. But Cypress is consistent and they offer some great dishes. The soft shell crab is nice, as well as the sauteed veal with lobster ravioli.
Rehearsal dinner
i am also having my rehearsal next year and will be at the st louis cathedral. I've looked into bacco and the pelican club. both are vrey reasonable in their pricing. also you can arrange for a cocktail hour with the W courtyard if you go with bacco. and i didn't like the way muriel's made you choose only one entree for everyone.
inexpensive but GOOD Restuarants???
You could do the Baisl Leaf on Carrolton (if you like Thai) for around that much. The portions ar ebig enough to split as well, so you do apps and I recommend their soups too.
Best Sushi in New Orleans?
My two faves have to be Kyoto on Prytania and Rock n Sake.
The Ceviche Roll at Kyoto may be the best simple preparation of a roll I've ever had and the salmon skin salad and the yellow tail neck at Rock n Sake are my absolute favorites.
Sunday Dinner
I'm having trouble finding a place open for dinner on Sunday. Any one know of some places that are open Sunday nights off the top of their head?
B-Day Dinner: Bistro Daisy or Patois?
I'm trying to eat at some new places (or new to me at least). Any suggestions as to one or the other and why?
