Pre-Broadway Dining - Saturday - Itailian Prefered

I just had a great meal at Etcetera Etcetera - quiet, not too pricey, great food. I had goat cheese and red beet stuffed pasta - homemade. It was a good choice in the area.

Recette review

I had the corn soup recently too and it was the best! My favorite dish of the night though were the Buffalo Sweetbreads - totally blew any buffalo chicken wings I've had out of the water!

Drink Before Gotham Bar and Grill

The drinks at Gramercy Tavern are always good and would be a nice start to your evening.

Apizz, Le Zie or somewhere else for birthday?

I like Le Zie but not really for a special occasion. I'd pick Apizz which has some traditional dishes along with interesting ones that you might like.

Another suggestion I have Locanda Verde which has great pastas and a spicy sausage sandwich for your son. The atmosphere is also a lot of fun, especially for a family outing (unless you really hate noise - it can get noisy).

Casual, romantic

Try Recette...the seafood is great and the menu is very seasonal.

Guys Dinner Labor Day weekend

I would say the Breslin but you can't make a reservation so that would likely be a deterrent. You might like DBGB - it's more casual than some of your choices but if you are fans of sausage and high-end burgers it's a great spot.

Looking for lunch near Penn Station

Definitely try Go Go Curry - it suits your interests. Just beware the place looks very divey and is covered in baseball memorabilia and gorillas but the food is great! Get the katsu as a topping!

thai in the village

I love Rohm Thai - it's on 20th street just north of Union Square so maybe a bit outside of your range but it's always good.

Birthday dinner suggestions

I am also thinking of heading to Degustation since I somehow haven't gotten there yet. Is the 10 course tasting menu enough food? Will the average diner leave satisfied?

How about La Fonda del Sol?

Anything near Eventi?

The Breslin is great and really close. I don't know if it counts as inexpensive but it's not particularly expensive in my opinion.

Astor Center has fantastic classes - the best I have tried and the facilities are great.

Anyone Eat RW at Central Park Boathouse, Water Club or the Palm Court in the Plaza?

Maybe I will give it a try then. That just ruined it for me!

Anyone Eat RW at Central Park Boathouse, Water Club or the Palm Court in the Plaza?

I went to the Water Club 2 years ago for restaurant week and I will not return - it's dated and the food was awful. It's a pretty view but not worth it!

Birthday dinner recommendations

The Gramercy Tavern is a good choice but how about something like The Standard Grill? It's more of a casual/trendy setting and I think the steak for two is great. I am usually opposed to super trendy spots but that steak is good and it's a fun spot (I'm in my mid twenties and don't worry too much about restaurant noise). Just make sure to ask to be in the back room.

Best restaurants to eat at the bar

Peasant's wine bar (subterranean level next door to the restaurant) is a favorite of mine.

Bobo fits your criteria.

Other thoughts: Little Giant or the Breslin

Vegas theme in Manhattan?

I'm not 100% what you mean but you can go somewhere like Buddakhan which feels very "Vegas"

anniversary trip - 4 nights, where to eat?

Skip Pastis, Spice Market, and maybe just do Balthazar for breakfast.

I love Perilla and The Little Owl but just do one or the other since they are quite similar.

Otto is tons of fun though there's better pizza places in the city, if that's what you are looking for. I'd go for Babbo or Lupa if you are looking to try one of Batali's places.

Gramercy Tavern is good but I tend to prefer eating in the more casual bar room than the main restaurant. I'd do Eleven Madison Park instead if you were picking that as your "fancy" dinner.

Midtown Italian - Last minute notice.

A Voce in the Time Warner Center can satisfy your Italian and tapas cravings at once. They have an excellent small plates menu and great pasta.

That being said, I would recommend trying to get a reservation at Scarpetta in the Meatpacking District for an excellent Italian dinner.

Chicago foodies in town for a couple of days

I agree with the above regarding the need to know where you are staying. There are thousands of restaurants in Mahattan, many of them with great food and moderate prices.
I'd like to add that "moderate prices" can mean something different to everyone. What per diner amount are you looking to spend (including drinks)?
