was at a restuarant in a courtyard in sonoma -- possibly mustards. was my first experience with risotta (lobster mushroom) and ripe figs were plunging to the ground all around us. I was about 24.

short ribs in coffee, maple syrup and ancho chiles; potato cheese enchiladas; chipotle shrimp and corn with sweet potatoes and white potatoes and tomatillo salsa.
My favorite comfort food:
stilton cheese, comice pear and carr's wheat crackers
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
blue hill nyc; oyamel dc;rick's blue heaven in key west; mumtaz mahal in oman for fantastic indian food, and the market grill at eastern market DC for breakfast. also jimmy Ts, same meal.
My most tattered cookbooks:
the breakfast book, but that's because I was a breakfast chef for a law firm, so it got an uncommon amount of use. Joy of Cooking of course, and the original Silver Palate.
