Wanted: Recommendations for Great VT/NH Restaurants
You should also check out:
1) Skunk Hallow Tavern (Wed. Nights are open mic starting around 9pm)
go over the Brownsville/Hartland road 15 minutes maybe
2) Keepers in Brownsville
Head out route 44 West then take a right on 106 15-20 minutes
3) The Weatherfield Inn I heard is great but have not been there
Head out route 44 West then take a left on 106 20-25 minutes (not 100%)
4) The P&P in Woodstock is Classic and always good
Head out route 44 west to 106 north head into Woodstock 30-35 minutes
5) The Hanover Inn is really good
take route 44 east towards Windsor and head on 91 north, take the Norwich exit then cross the bridge into NH. go up the hill and you will see the inn at the light
6) Home Hill Inn (I have to say I love this place, Paula Snow is a fellow Chef and does a great job)
Head route 44 then head into Windsor, go across the Windsor-Cornish Covered bridge into NH then head north on route 12A (I believe its route 12...when you get off the bridge go left) Follow that road into Plainfield and look for Rivers Edge Farms on the left and also McNamara Dairy. Follow that road 4-5 miles and Home Hill will be on the left.. this should be your #1 dinner, do the tasting menu..
I think thats all I can think of..
enjoy!

Happily 10 years coming up in May
Hi,
Its our 10 year anniversary coming up in may and we wanted to take an adult weekend with a nice dinner in the city. we like smaller boutique hotels with great restaurants in them.
Hotel/Room: only must is a two person tub and king/queen bed
Restaurant: tasting menu with wine or tapas style
Thanks,
Jason
Inn at Weathersfield (VT): run, don't walk! (long)
Maybe with your review i will try again and make sure the chef is in the house.
Red Rooster/Woodstock Inn, VT
yep, it was good a touch out of place for Woodstock but its ok. I have heard many comments good and bad, my meal was just ok nothing to write home about but that was the first round, I still have two more times to visit before the true colors show. the locals hate the look but most of them are old and cranky so who cares what they say.
Walpole Creamery vs. Strafford Organic Creamery Ice Cream
walpole is much better, Strafford over whips the cream leaving a butter fat feel on the roof of your mouth
NH Inns/B&B with great food, good access to XC skiing?
If its not to late you should move your inn resi to the village inn in Woodstock VT.. much closer to the killington ski center and Billings farms has many carriage trails you can ski on.

I will be cooking for the James Beard house on the 19th. I am looking for a nice spot to dine with my Sous Chefs. Im looking for American style cuisine, not to price senstive. We are staying at the Union League Club on 37th. I have been to D&D's, Le Bernadin, Auriels (sp?) Le Ciruque. Thanks for the help!
