Royersford or Collegeville Restaurant Suggestion
I think mom will be fine in Phoenixville. It's not that sketchy at all. My favorite is of course Majolica. If you can swing a Wednesday, Thursday, or Sunday, the prix fixe for $30 cannot be beat. I have also enjoyed Craft up Ridge Pike a bit in Limerick. If you rule out sushi (Bonjung) or Chinese (Han Dynasty), I'd say those are my favorites.
Sunset Drinks at MIX
We went pretty much right after it opened (around 5 I believe), and there was no cover charge. We had our pick of seats to see the sights and enjoy a cocktail. Great view (even from the bathroom) and good drinks, though service was a bit lacking, perhaps because they never get anyone that early.
Fun/funky bar near 13th and Spruce?
Westbury has been recently renovated and is now cleaner, better lit, and has a wide variety of very good beers. The service has always been friendly, and it's a dependable place to get a beer and actually hear your friends.
Piazza Presto in Limerick?
We went for a weekend lunch and found it also to be mediocre at best; the pizza felt like it was one of those bought from a school fundraising event -- it was far too even, and the cheese was unnatural. The service was fine, but there is really no reason to return for us.
Going to Vegas - where to eat?
Those that Debbie mentioned are all excellent for breakfast and a good deal for lunch (though I will say that Paris has slipped slightly). I would also highly recommend Cravings at Mirage for lunch -- fresh, varied, and nice decor.
Al fresco Philly Suburbs
A few of the chains in KoP have outdoor seating: Maggiano's, Bahama Breeze, and Champps. Speaking of chains, the Iron Hill in Phoenixville has a patio. If you'd like to actually eat relatively decent food, the Black Lab in Phoenixville also has some tables outside.
Tell me about Carnevino, Vegas
We dined at Carnevino in March. I have now been to Babbo and Carnevino, and I must say I'm underwhelmed by Batali. That being said, I had a good meal out of a pear and endive salad and the petit filet with a gorgonzola marscapone sauce that was transporting (I also coveted our friends' affettati misti). I think it doesn't quite live up to the hype or the price point though. For example, it didn't come close to knocking my socks off like Bradley Ogden did. So, I wouldn't say no, but I also would say there are more interesting places to go.
