College St recommendations?
c.cow...you and me are sympatico, first the bitters now sidecar. Sidecar is hands down my favourite place on college. The prix fixe is outstanding and , of course, they take cocktails seriously.
Where can I buy Orange Bitters?
you're correct c.cow. They are the exclusive distributors in Toronto. That's it....period.
Restaurant near the ACC
I'm biased, but The Wine Bar is worth a visit.
it's within a 10 minute walk of the ACC.

Are there any NYC style wine bars in Toronto?
Not a whole lot has changed, aside from the ownership!
Hanks is busy and the wine bar is still doing things in a very similar fashion, in most regards, as compared to the wine bar of previous years...
Best Espresso in the city...
God KGB, you're almost as bad as me.
No mention of Sam James Coffee Bar at all on this thread? People aren't really paying attention seemingly.
SJCB, hands down. The lines are already 5 people deep. Rightfully.
Can't get a good reso at Nota Bene, need a back up?!
Better be quick at L'Unita.
Place is as busy as NB and smaller.
I'm pretty sure they have line- ups on Saturday nights.
best brunch places in Toronto?
Niagara St Cafe...Hands down.
Nick kills it for brunch and dinner service. The service is way above average.
Splendido scoop
I've heard no news of a new resto.
Sale of Splendido is the news I'm aware of.
Splendido scoop
One very tanned, very chipper Chef Lee confirmed the news to me last night.
Splendido scoop
I'm watching this space with keen, keen interest.
I wonder how the staff will react to such huge news. Could be a curious time on Harbord St.
These rumours were swirling for about 6 weeks though.
Best French restaurant in Toronto for $100 pp?
Mogette Bistro.
I live down downtown and make the effort to get to this newly opened Davisville boite.
French classics, well priced wine and decent service.

It'll be the Pastis of the area for sure.
Plateau of Dining in Toronto?
I did visit the hoof and thought it was good. I will return.
I agree with the other replies, most certainly it's a tough time.
I just have not been "wowed" for a while.
Fingers crossed.
Plateau of Dining in Toronto?
Is it me or is Toronto a little stagnant right now?
Is anywhere doing anything really interesting right now or is it just the same-old?
I can't seem to find an experience anymore in this city.
Recently I've eaten at L'Unita, Nota Bene & JKWB. All of which were ok...but seemed like nothing special.
Concerned!
Is Nota Bene a good restaurant for Valentine's Day dinner?
It'll be a rushed affair...most certainly.
Nota Bene, one of TO's busiest restos, on one of the busiest nights of the year...it may not be the best experience...but that is Valentines day however.
Wines from Victoria [split from Ontario]
Um....Isn't Victoria the home to perhaps Australia's greatest chardonnay (Giaconda) and up there with the worlds greatest fortified regions (Rutherglen).
Respectable wine country I would say without even having to bring the rest of the line up in....Can anybody resist a Heathcote Shiraz?
Canadian or Torontonian food to take to Australia
I'm from that part of the world and have worked in the food world in both parts of the world. If they are true foodies (and Melburnians take it seriously) they will have a passion for wine.
Take them some Riesling from the Niagara region, which I missed whilst back down there. Especially the Stratus "Charles Baker - Piccone Vineyard" Riesling. Deliciously off dry and quite unlike most Rieslings from that part of the world.
If not Riesling, maybe Pinot Noir or Cabernet Franc.
Unfortunately we, Australian's, have a very Aussie centric palate. Awaken them with some wines from the opposite side of the world.
