Kingston, ON - Lunch?
Can anyone suggest a good place for lunch in Kingston? There seemed to be nothing but tons of big box restaurants the last time we went through. Is there anything tasty and locally based?
Thanks!
Good place for lunch in Moline, IL or Davenport, IA?
Any suggestions for a place to eat in Moline, IL or Davenport, IA? We're foodies, but not fussy.
Port Huron, MI
Can anyone suggest a good place for lunch in Port Huron. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a good meal.
Thanks!!
New Brunswick Eats?
I'm wondering if someone can suggest a good place to stop for lunch along the Transcanada between Grand Sault, NB and Halifax, NS. Midpoint on our drive looks to be around the turn-off to Sussex, so anywhere near there might be a bet. We're not fussy as long as the food is good. Then again we'd also be willing to splurge a bit if there's something amazing that we shouldn't miss. I'm willing to take a little detour for something out of this world.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks so much!
A good place for lunch on the long stretch to NB?
We're up for anything and everything. That sounds great. I'm going to miss getting poutine at La Banquise so that will make up for it.
A good place for lunch on the long stretch to NB?
Can anyone suggest a good place to stop for lunch on the 20 East? We're leaving Montreal in the AM and I would stop in Quebec City, but we don't have much time, so something close to the highway would be brilliant.
Thanks!!!
Roadtrip from Montreal to Halifax...can you help?
My partner and I are driving from Montreal to Halifax this summer, breaking it up into a two day drive. I'm thinking Quebec City might be a good place to stop for lunch. Any good suggestions? If there's a treasure a little further down the road or before then I'm willing to change my plans.
We're stopping for the night at Grand Falls, NB. Any good places to eat?
After that I'm looking for a good place to stop for lunch between Grand Falls and Halifax.

Foodie tour of Victoria, related question
Too bad to hear about Fisherman's Wharf. Barb's used to be really good, I haven't been in a while though.

None of us are fussy, sashimi to greasy spoon. We'll run the gamut.
Good eats in South Dakota?
Thanks! I'll pass on any finds. I'm really looking forward to the Badlands. I've heard they're amazing.
Dinner in Belltown?
I did a search, but the threads we from back in 2004 and a lot can change in four years. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced/delicious dinner in Belltown? I'm there on a Monday night. I don't know if that's standard closed restaurant territory like it is where I'm from.
Also, is there anywhere good for lunch near the EMP or on Capitol Hill? Thanks guys!!
Good eats in South Dakota?

One Night in Des Moines
I'm wondering how our riverside hotel I booked fared. I saw some footage last night. Wow.
Bienenstich (bee-sting) Cake
I don't have the recipe on hand, but my mom's best friend makes hers with hazelnuts, and splits the cake in half and fills it with buttercream. I lost the recipe, but if I can find it, I'll pass it on. It's outstanding.
One Night in Des Moines
Not until August. I'm hoping most of the places we're going won't be underwater by then. Eeep!!
Foods: once common, but now luxury
I miss clamming more than anything. There are so few places left that you can do it here on the island. Nothing better than digging up a few pounds and cooking them right up on the beach with garlic butter. We used to boil our corn in saltwater too. Sooo good.
Foods: once common, but now luxury
I'm lucky if I can get two flank steaks for under $22, and skirt steak is unheard of. Maybe it's a Canadian thing. It's also really hard to find a lot of the cheaper cuts of meat here. I think maybe most of it goes into store-made ground beef.
Help Me Wrap My Brain Around Granville Island
I believe the culinary school offers lunches as well.
I'd like your favorite sandwich recipe and your least favorite food ingredient.
Hee hee. Brussel sprouts. That blows my mind. Oh, wait is that your least favourite?
I'd like your favorite sandwich recipe and your least favorite food ingredient.
My all-time favourite summer sandwich is fresh mozza, really ripe tomatoes and fresh basil on a crusty baguette with lots of salt and pepper. Sometimes I marinate the tomatoes with some thin sliced onion in a little balsamic and olive oil.
My other favourite is turkey, granny smith apple and old cheddar with some old-timey plum chutney. Sooo good.
As for the post Thanksgiving sandwich, I go for the usual, but always add a big smear of my bacon-sweet potato-onion casserole. Yum.
The worst is miracle whip, which my mother swears by. Followed closely behind by margarine, deli turkey with weird sundried tomato smear on the outside and mock chicken loaf. I always wanted to know what the heck a mock chicken was when I was a kid. I shudder to think.
One Night in Des Moines
I'm starting on vancouver island in Canada and driving through the topmost states then to halifax, NS, then back through some midwest states. We just didn't want to take the same route twice I guess, that and my boyfriend really wants to see Devils Tower in Wyoming.
Good eats in South Dakota?
