Marea was just awful, every part of the meal.
line length on Sat afternoon at 2pm at the Milk Bar in the EV?
Hello,
Can anyone please tell me how long the line will be at 2pm on Saturday? Hoping for some crack pie tomorrow, but if it's a long line, what other delicious sweets should be eaten in the EV?
Thanks so much!
wonderful goo around meatloaf
meat goo isn't very attractive either. loaf butter. mmm.
wonderful goo around meatloaf
Is there a word for the creamy goo that seeps out around the edges of meatloaf while it is cooking? It's always my favorite part, and if it could be bottled up, I would be so happy!
Food ideas for 12 month old transitioning to "real" food
My toddler likes to feed herself, and I've found freezing yogurt and cutting it up makes it less messy than giving her a bowl of yogurt. I strain out chicken broth and give her the solids in chicken noodle soup. Pumpkin or banana pancakes are easy to feed herself. Scrambled eggs take a minute or two to make. She will try anything we eat, so this transitional stage will not last too long!
Price for dinner at Joel Robuchon
Well, it isn't that easy to figure out how to plan ahead when you cannot view the menu and prices online. Zagat lists per person price at $138, the restaurant on the phone said it's possible to eat for $75 per person, but the tasting menu is now $268 a person! Sorry, it just seems too difficult to plan not to spend way too much for dinner. I'm curious about a rough estimate and cannot seem to find one. I'm sure it's delicious, but planning to spend over $600 for dinner is way too much (for us).
Price for dinner at Joel Robuchon
Hello,
It shouldn't be difficult to figure out how much dinner for two would cost, but I cannot find an updated price list online. 2006 looks like $160 per person for the tasting menu--can anyone confirm the newest pricing? Would it be a $400 meal or really much more than that??
Thank you!

Quiet, empty but nice enough LES/East Village/Chinatown Sat night 8pm with a group?
It looks like the Magician will work for an empty and nice bar. And if we need to grab a bite to eat beforehand, Vanessa's Dumpling House for a pancake sandwich. And if it's just a few people for dinner instead, Pho Grand looks good. Any other ideas for sit down meals around 9pm on the Lower East Side? Thanks again!

Wonderful suggestions--thank you. I forgot to mention that the opening ends at 8pm, so it's the worst time to be looking for a table. We'll try to do a dry run in the next few weeks though.

Ok, this is sort of an impossible restaurant or bar to search for, and I greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have. After a Saturday night art opening in January, an unknown number of people (from 4-20) of various ages (mostly 40s) will be heading out for drinks and possibly dinner near Allen and Delancey. It may be too cold to walk very far, and it would be better to have a place in mind before starting out with a group. Is there a solid chinese restaurant that would be open and have booze? A strangely quiet pub with some food? Sorry for the the anti-chow request!
Le P'tit Paris Bistro-Looks like we've got a winner!
We've been here four times and have been extremely happy with the meals all but once when it was just ok. It's really solid and very french and great to have in the neighborhood. We'll keep going back.
Brancaccio's Food Shop (Windsor Terrace / Kensington)
We've tried take out maybe 3-4 times, and the meatball sandwich is the thing I keep thinking about. It's perfect for cold weather. I'm so glad they are in the neighborhood.
Best Burger in Park slope?
Bark's burger is pretty great. Korzo's deep fried was awful. Wanted to like Fonda, but it wasn't special. How is Thistle Hill's burger?
bar/pub near 57th and 5th
hello,
stopping by an opening tonight and wonder if there is a place for a quick pint near that intersection--no time to travel more than a block or two. thanks!
No knead bread question
Hello,
Baked the first loaves of no knead bread and excited about how well they turned out, but I have a question regarding the second rise in a tea towel. I smeared the towels with as much flour as they would hold before folding the dough in them, but both times, it was impossible to get the dough off of the towel. Any keys to keeping the dough and towel from sticking to each other? Or an alternative setting for the 2nd rise? A new oiled bowl with a towel on top might work just as well. Thanks for your suggestions!

Hello,
Do regular butchers carry pheasant?
Thanks!

gristly pot roast
I seared it and braised it in wine and broth--if it goes back in the oven at a lower temperature, could the fat break down?
gristly pot roast
Hello,
I bought a cheap beef roast and am wondering if the longer I cook it, the more tender it will be. It's less than 3 lbs and has spent 3 hours in the oven at 350 degrees. There was a lot of gristle when I just cut into it--if I keep roasting it, will the tough fat melt eventually? Or will the roast just get tougher?
Thanks so much,
Tracy

Very casual, west chelsea/garment district group dining
It's impossible to get waited on--if you don't mind waiting a half an hour to get a drink, it would be ok.

I don't think I've ever seen a post on it--will stop in next time--thanks!

Thanks so much--Flight 151 was pretty loud when I was there, but it was years ago. Will check it out again and will try Dublin 6.
