Where to get Cheese Curds near Raleigh?

I'm looking for some cheese curds. Does anyone know where I can get some decent ones? I'm at a loss as to where to go to find some. Any ideas? It doesn't have to be in Raleigh, the surrounding areas are fair game.
Thanks!

Bacon in French cooking

My mother is French, but lives in the south of the US now. Because lardons (the French version of bacon) is nigh impossible to get, she buys bacon and blanches it to help reduce the smokiness and salt (as bizkat suggested). I find that this works well enough.

If you can find unsmoked bacon, this would probably be closer the the French-style lardons.

Leftover Scalloped Potatoes - What to do?

They are good for breakfast with a fried egg. Maybe a dash of hot sauce if you are into that.

dmd_kc is right about the rewarming method. Though if you have the oven on for some reason (or have a toaster oven), I still like that method for reheating it. I rarely reheat in my oven because it's a bit overkill for one serving, but if I had the oven on to make some bread or something, I'll ride out the heat to re-heat my potatoes.

Beefeater 24? Anyone try it?

I recently saw a bottle of gin that didn't look terribly familiar. It's called Beefeater 24. It looks like it's billing itself as a new high-end gin. Apparently it is made with sencha green tea and the 24 refers to a 24 hour botanical steeping period.

Apart from that, I don't really know much else. Any hounds here try it or know anything more about it?

Food and restaurant jokes.

Best Hangover Cure?

Bojangles. If it's particularly bad, another nap.
If I can't get out of the house, a fried egg on toast.

Best Fried chicken chain

I don't see any mention of Zaxby's. Granted, their chicken is mostly chicken fingers instead of the bone-in fried chicken. But it's still tasty. And I love their sauce.

Best Cheap Beer

I normally pick up Yeungling. But if I'm looking for dirt cheap, Natty Light is what I go with. I kinda like that it is completely unpretentious and doesn't try to be anything it isn't.

I don't normally mind stepping up in price a tiny bit and getting something better, like a Sierra Nevada. It depends in the context of how I intend to drink it...

Slow Cooker/Crock pot Pulled Pork Recipe- Anyone Have a Great One?

While not the most authentic BBQ out there, we did a simple BBQ pulled pork recipe for our Super Bowl party. Basically you put the boneless pork ribs in the crock pot and cover it with chicken broth. Turn it on and let it sit for 6+ hours. Then pull it apart with some forks. It is amazingly easy to make. We picked up some different BBQ sauces so people could sauce it as they pleased. The favorite in our house at the moment is Sticky Fingers Carolina Sweet, though I do love the NC vinegar based sauces.
There are some photos of the finished product here: http://safetoeat.wordpress.com/2009/0...
I hope your's went well!

How do I Cook Scallops

I don't know if you need any more information--people here all provided great advice. But a guest author at my blog recently posted about making scallops with orange butter and parsnips. You obviously don't have to do the whole thing, but she did spend some time talking about how to sear them. She doesn't use a lot of oil, pats them dry (like another person suggested) and only moves them once--to flip them over. Take a look at the link for some details and photos.
