Space coast dining

Dixie Crossroads is an institution. Corn fritters are to die for and the rock shrimp is so yummy.

Need Help Baking Chicken Thigh with Thermometer (bone in, skin on)

I brown them off first in a little olive oil on top of the stove on medium heat. Then throw them in the oven for 20 or 30 min at 400 degrees till done. That way you get the nice crisp skin which is the best part :)

Spanish cooking chorizo in St. Pete area

You are going to laugh but Sweetbay carries fresh chorizo. It can be a little on the spicy side for me but I am a wimp. It is ususally in the butcher case with the italian and turkey sausages or over in the meat cases with the other fresh sausages.

Help planning an alfredo dinner! (Green bean, veggie questions)

I totally agree with C. Hamster. There is no need for a side. I do have to say my husband likes the shrimp sauted but just in a non stick pan or a grill pan with just a pinch oil. He likes the flavor. I would defrost shrimp under running water put them on the side in some paper towell to dry. and when the pasta is ready salt and pepper them and saute them up. they only take 2 to 3 min on the first side and 1-2 on the second. Lay them on top decoratively. Then do a simple light dessert like gelato or sorbet with a crisp cookie. It will be fabulous. Have fun

St. Augustine good lunch spot needed!

We went to the Milltop Tavern which is right across the street. It is super casual but the food was good. Then we walked over to the ice pop place on Hyppolyta. Have a great time. The ghost tour was lots of fun too.

Pork roast w/ fig wild rice stuffing - Sides?

What about sausage in the stuffing? I blanched the green beans and then did a zingy vinagrette. Served them chilled with toasted walnuts and a crumbling of blue cheese and it was so nice to have that crisp cold item with the heavier dishes. Also for sweetness and color maybe the glazed carrots or the sweet potato puree that nomadchowwoman suggested would be tasty.

Good produce selection in Indian Rocks Beach?

Head south on Gulf Blvd. to the Park Blvd, bridge, go over the ridge and within the next mile or so is a fairly large produce stand on the right. Haven't been in a while but they used to have a nice selection and it is close. Enjoy your stay :)

Gulfport/Tampa - SICHUAN PEPPERCORNS! Where?

Gulfport has a Tuesday morning Farmers Market. One of the booths is asian pantry items, sauces, mixes noodles etc. They may have it and it's close to home. I like the little asian market in Seminole Tung Fong 5775 Seminole Blvd. It is about 20 minutes from Gulfport. Super nice people and usually have what I am looking for. Juli

Cold chicken appetizers?

I never have enough oven space so one year I cooked the chicken cubed it and served with peanut sauce like for sate, zaziki and a thick cesar dip. People loved the variety if dipping sauces .For the kids I would maybe add ranch dip.Have fun. Juli

easy no bake summer dessert recipe needed for today Sept. 3

First of all have a great time :) Here are some ideas
1. Trifle either individual or a big one always impresses
2. Tiramisu in maybe a little different flavor like raspberry or hazelnut
3. You will laugh but everytime I do an ice cream sundae bar people love it, I try to do fun toppings.
4. Panna cotta in little cups.
5. Fresh fruit cut up but all grouped so people can put them in pretty glasses with maybe a few liquors to top them with. It is light an d pretty
There is my top 5 good luck

Key West

There are some very good threads on here you might want to check out. With the exception of possibly sushi. We liked Origami which was on Virginia and Duvall. Very fresh really good yellow tail. Have a great time.

Christmas shortbread cookie ideas?

I saw biscotti with green pistachios and dried cherries in them for Christmas. I switched the cherries for cranberries (just out of preference) and dippied the end in white chocolate and they were a big favorite.

St Augustine style shrimp

Maybe I am thinking of the wrong stuff because the video is in the kitchen at the restaurant so it has to be it. Just have to figure out what kind of cracker crumbs they use. The stuff I was thinking of was a coating that was golden and very fine kind of like wondra flour, remember the gravy flour in a can. Maybe that is not Golden Dipt. Like kengk said maybe the video was fake, just seems like a weird thing to do for a small mom and pop place. Good luck if I find anything else out I will add on. Juli

St Augustine style shrimp

It looked like the stuff you buy in the seafood section at a grocery store . I forget the name I almost want to say Golden Dipt but I am not sure next time I go to Publix I will see if I can find it. And Kengk had it exactly no cornstarch or leavening. Fresh shrimp and fresh oil were the only other requirements.

Looking to buy fresh tortillas tomorrow South County

Is there any place that sells fresh tortillas in St. Pete. I know in Clearwater, la Cabana del Tio does. But I thought there might be a restaurant or bodega that sells them a little closer to home. Thanks

Please help me showcase cauliflower

I saw this recipe in Bon Appetit a couple of months ago and it looked delish, I haven't tried it yet but here it is. It calls for the cauliflower to be cut into slices and sauteed like a steak.

Belgian in Tampa

St. Pete Brasserie has mussels and pomme frites with aioli on the menu. We like to go and sit at the bar, have a glass of wine and small plates. While not traditionally Belgian still yummy.

I've got a 2-liter limit. Which bourbon(s) would YOU bring?

I have been hearing a lot about Van Winkle but I believe it is pricey ( boutique brand) . We like Bookers or Woodford.
