Anyone try this place yet? Did they open yesterday?

Taco Delivery?

Thanks, guys. Tacodeli does indeed deliver. They have a $50 minimum order and a 10% delivery charge. Not horrible, but definitely a great option.

If anyone hears of any other options, please let me know!

Taco Delivery?

Our office is looking for a taco delivery service. There used to be a woman that would come by the office with a cooler full of goodness, but she is no where to be found. Does anyone know of a similar taco toting temptress?

Athenian Grill opening Tuesday July 22nd

I just went for lunch today and it is as good as it ever was. They have raised the prices, but I couldn't really feel it when the bill came and if there was any other downtown, or Austin for that matter, Greek food that even comes close to this place then maybe you could complain about the prices. Go early, Go often!

Anyone tried Segovia?

Someone should tell them to change the prices on the ToGo menu too. The tapas dishes are still listed as $8/each.

Best Old World Italian near Hells Kitchen?

Austin Hound looking for Old World rustic Italian in midtown this week. I heard Ralphie's might be worth trying and I think Trattoria Trecolori is good but is closed for remodeling.

Anyone have ideas?

Thanks!

Lunch time dum sum?

Actually T & S is the only place I know of in Austin that serves Dim Sum for lunch. You have to ask for the Dim Sum menu and you order it like you are at a sushi bar by choosing the number of items you want. The selection was pretty much the same as on the weekends, but they were out of a few things last time I went.

Chinatown dim sum?

Okay, so we went to Dim Sum there this weekend and I have to say it may be the best Dim Sum in Austin. The selection is pretty diverse with some extravagant options (fried jalapenos, espresso glazed short ribs) and they also warm the pot stickers and taro cake at your table on a metal cart. The steamed dumplings come in a few varieties and are good, the BBQ pork buns are excellent, and the dessert selection is more extensive than most Dim Sum restaurants in Austin.

Highly Recommended.

Best carbonara

Sorry for the short post, here is a little more detail on La Traviata's excellent Carbonara. I'll preface this by saying carbonara in my wife's favorite dish and she has tried it in every Italian restaurant in Austin.

The reason this dish is spectacular is in it's simplicity and the freshness of the ingredients. The spaghetti is super fresh and always cooked perfectly. The pancetta is tasty and the dish is super rich with well balanced flavors without being too heavy They top it all off with a fresh egg, yolk still intact. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think.

btw- it will set you back around $12

Dress code

Any self-respecting Austin restaurant does not have a dress code, but I can not speak for all of the recent Dallas imports. I'm sure some of the more upscale restaurants would at least deserve a pair of sneakers, but any 'neighborhood place' shouldn't have a problem with flip flops.

roll with me here: best egg roll in austin?

I really think the egg rolls at Tan Tan (or Tan My now) are excellent. Small, crispy, light wrappers, with a nice filling and good proportions of meat and vegetables. I usually get them in the Pork & Egg Roll Vermicelli bowl and pour the fish sauce over everything.

They also sell them as an appetizer, but I forget what type of sauce they are served with.

Happy Hunting!

Taquería El Rinconsito: Delicious Tacos on Hand-Rolled Tortillas

I guarantee you your mind is not playing tricks on you. I recently discovered [Rosita's] Al Pastor and agree that the Al Pastor tacos are wonderful and the homemade flour tortillas do indeed seal the deal. I wrote more about it here -

Best Desserts?

I highly recommend Gumbo's desserts and entrees. Order a chocolate custard and a strawberry cheesecake and you will be in dairy heaven! We stop by for just dessert and coffee often and the service is spectacular. Good luck, and enjoy.

Bueno Aires Cafe - Argentinian
Mi Colombia - Colombian

Gene's Po Boys in Austin is Great!

"Can't wait for Tuesday's jambalaya and fried chicken wings w potato salad and green beans. "

Oh my god! That is the best plate lunch special, ever. My co-worker drags me there at least once a month for that plate of goodness.

Really good Jambalaya with sausage and it's a nice dark brown. The chicken wings are fried perfectly, and the potato salad and greens beans are just lagniappe.
