Munchery

I didn't want to sound too much like a commercial post and I figured that if I'd heard of them they were one everyone's radar. They just started in Seattle, I'm not sure how far their delivery area extends. Entrees are in the $8-10 range.

Munchery

The new meal delivery service in town really wants to make a good first impression. I took advantage of their early discount code for one free meal and placed an order. The delivery guy (whose picture I'd received when I placed my order)showed up at the time specified and thanked me for trying the service, explaining that the first order comes with goodies...a canvas bag, sticker, oven mitt, HANDWRITTEN thank you note and a cookie. The food was absolutely fresh, reheated nicely and was far and away better than any other delivery options in the 'hood. The delivery charge is minimal and all in all I think it's good value. Has anyone else tried them?

Overwhelmed, need ideas on where to start

While you're down by Lake Union, don't miss the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI). It's also close to the restaurant hot spot of South Lake Union...I'd break your rule and try Shanik for lunch.

"dump" recipes??

A coworker was just today talking about an infomercial she'd seen about dump recipes. She's a notorious non-cook (her husband cooks)and we were joking that maybe this would be within her skills.

Which Varieties Make the Best Apple Butter?

My Mom liked Gravensteins and further would go for windfalls--they're cheaper and since you're cooking them anyway they don't need to be pretty.

Salad combinations for everyday...

Roasted beets are a nice addition. I pair mine with feta, a sprinkling of a dried fruit/nut mix and light champagne vinaigrette. Lettuce is whatever came in the organic produce box or looked good at the farmer's market.

*Lebanon* bologna?? also dried beef

I have to remember this. My family (except for the lone vegetarian) would go berserk for those.

Yummy House is close, too.

Kalsada Filipino Pop-Up

It's right outside of Inay's, which makes it sound like they're just bringing the cooking out of the kitchen. Is it a really a pop-up if it's at a restaurant of the same ethnicity?

What to eat in/south of Everett before noon on a Saturday?

And why has no one ever mentioned the Hungarian place before?! May have to make a special trip to Lynnwood.

Gravity Bar clones?

It taught me that honeydew makes my throat scratchy. I never did learn how to jump graciously from those darned high stools.

Cookware you secretly use as dishware?

When I was single I tended to cook, serve and eat out of my Pyrex 2 and 4 cup measures.

Food for People with Braces on Their Teeth

I popped a bracket off with enchiladas--tortillas get hard at the edges when they're baked! After you've had them tightened is when you'll really want the soft stuff. Flavored mashed potatoes were a favorite.

Food from the 70's!

I also don't remember seeing/hearing of chocolate fountains until the 90s.

Food from the 70's!

I remember going to a friend's house for dinner and her Mom made HH Potato Stroganoff with frozen peas added. My 4th grade self thought it the height of sophistication--we NEVER had anything like that at home!

El Cabrito

From the signage, I think the barbacoa is lamb. Husband got the enchiladas, I got the carnitas plate. I think "fresh-tasting" is a good description. Looking forward to trying the tamale and other menu items.

Early Sunday AM Breakfast-Bellevue/Seattle Airport Area

It's also fun to sit at the counter and watch the line cooks juggle skillets. Eggs over easy, hard, sunnyside, omelets...all going at the same time and all just right. But my favorite is the Joe's Special.

They're good for your heart...

My favorite bean lately is the mayocoba which I can get at local farmers' markets. It's just a good tasting bean. I've bought most of my dried beans lately from local growers. Now I think I'll go start some garbanzos soaking for that recipe from EWSflash.

Does anyone know how/if I can find Red Dog Tavern Armageddon hot sauce?

There are recipes scattered around the web. Ingredients: habaneros, Thai chili garlic sauce, garlic and honey.

You might try calling the tavern. It seems that the hot sauce was the creation of a former owner.

How Hard, Really, Is It To Provide A Tap List In Seattle?

I don't drink a lot of beer, but I'm far more likely to order a beer if I can tell what's on offer without asking. Got that, business owners? YOU MAKE A LIST, YOU SELL MORE BEER! (So in answer to your question Kaleo...yes, it does.)

Good to know. I've pondered it for a long time, but just couldn't wrap my brain around a Reuben without meat or cheese.
