logans roadhouse-

This is a pretty basic chain steak/burger place. Peanut shells on the floor, etc. I like their steaks and sometimes the salmon is okay, too.

When I was pregnant I would crave their sourdough bread. It made wonderful toast.

Bob Evans and/or Cracker Barrel

Neither are great, but for my money, I prefer Cracker Barrel. They at least have a daily meat special with vegetables.

My daughter and I noticed that too. We were trying to figure out what it is. The staff was busy that afternoon, I hated to stop and ask them.

Mother's Day in Memphis

Wally Joes is no more. He closed his namesake restaurant and now is working at the Brushmark. However, the restaurant that took over his space, Interim, is said to be wonderful, too.

King Biscuit Diner-Memphis

The family and I tried out King Biscuit Sunday, lunch. Husband and I had omlettes that were superb. (Western and Turkey) My daughter tried the apple stuffed french toast and left very little behind. The menu is very interesting and took us several minutes to make choices. We will be back soon.

sliced my silpat....is it safe to use?

I would replace it. You would be running the risk of exposing your food to the silicone contained in the mat.

What do you put in the cavity or on/under the skin of your turkey?

I like to stuff the cavity with halved apples. It may be my imagination, but it seems to keep the bird moist and it smells good, too.

Why no glass pan?

I tried a new recipe yesterday, a butternut squash and spinach gratin. It was baked in a 13x9 pan at 400 degrees with parchment covering the top. The instructions specifically said to not use a glass pan. Does anyone have an idea why?

Bologna or baloney

Fry it, as mentioned above, until it resembles a Stetson. Then fill the cavity with mashed potatoes.
