24 Hour Orange County Restaurant [Moved from CA board]

FWIW, Norm's is always open for you.

Pu' erh tea

Don't know how the quality is, but you can buy it in bulk at Canton Foods on Alameda near the 10.

First Timer to SFO Needs Suggestions

No car... just my feet, the ferry, maybe a taxi or BART. It'll be strictly Oakland and SF.

First Timer to SFO Needs Suggestions

Being Vietnamese and from OC, I think I'll skip the Slanted Door. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll definitely have to check out the Ferry Building.

First Timer to SFO Needs Suggestions

Going to the bay area for the first time next week. I'll be staying in Jack London Square from Friday to Sunday. In Oakland, I want to try Zachary's for pizza, maybe Nellie's for soul food and not sure where I should get BBQ. Any other suggestions or alternatives? Looking for casual dining, nothing fancy.

I also want to head over to SF and don't know where to start in terms of dining destinations. I'll probably take the ferry over to Pier 41/Fisherman's Wharf. I'm guessing seafood would be a good call. I want to avoid the tourist traps if that's possible.

TIA

Parents 30th anniversary, good chinese/viet seafood in OC?

Since you've tried Capital Seafood on Westminster and Magnolia, try Royal Capital Seafood on Westminster and Euclid.

Bella Terra Mall area suggestions for lunch?

I'd go to King's Fishhouse if it's going to be at Bella Terra. Mangia Mangia is down the street at Edinger and Goldenwest if you're in the mood for Italian.

Long Beach airport or along 405 North

Right up the street from King's Hawaiian is Shinsengumi Yakitori. It's open late too.

Best OC Prime Rib Dinner for $14.99 or Less?

Lawry's Carvery in SCP may just be around $15.

Mid-OC lunches, Bake Pkwy and Trabuco Rd.

I believe Nory's Peruvian is fairly close to you.

Most un-Chowhoundish OC Restaurants

I've eaten at the Costa Mesa location on Placentia a few times and thought it was acceptable.

Any recent meals at El Parian?

Their salsa has a little heat to it, but it's sort of a watery mush and nothing to rave about. It might be commercial too, but now sure.

Any recent meals at El Parian?

Good: The ordenen de birria
Bad: They still use the round doritos.

Spicy Food in OC

Try some bun bo hue if you haven't already. I suggest Pho Cong Ly aka Saigon Deli and ask for it very spicy. There's a recent post on the topic.

Seafood Palace in Stanton--worth a visit?

I hear their Peking duck is good.

Great Anaheim-area steak spots?

Mr. Stox is in Anaheim

Vietnamese GOI (not goi cuon)

I would describe it as a type of slaw with meat in it. Usually it has a sour sauce which has fish sauce in it.

Mandarin Deli locations

I just went to the Chinatown location and it's been gutted inside. Don't know if they are planing on reopening. My guess is no.

Buying "Hav A Chip"

Here's an article about them:

Buying "Hav A Chip"

Mother's Market has them.

Needin' A Beefy French Dip

Tam O'Shanter Inn for a prime rib sandwich from the ale and sandwich bar. They also serve roast beef.

Chano's Now by LAC+USC Medical Center

Oh I like their nachos too. They fry their chips up fresh and while they're still hot, sprinkle cheese on them to melt it.

Chano's Now by LAC+USC Medical Center

I always get the chicken soft tacos. Grilled pieces of chicken, chunky pico de gallo and avocado sauce.

Chano's was always the late night place for USC students to grab a bite to eat after heavy drinking.

Chano's Now by LAC+USC Medical Center

If you're a fan of Chano's by the USC main campus, it looks like the Manny's El Loco on Mission by LAC+USC Medical Center is now a Chano's.

Thai Sausage in OC

Specifically in OC, what Thai restaurants serves the sour sausage that is deep fried? It comes with a wedge of cabbage and some other stuff. If Thai Nakorn was open, I'd try there.

Mijares in Pasadena

145 Palmetto Dr, Pasadena, CA 91105

It was either that or El Cholo in Pasadena...

Mijares in Pasadena

I just found out I'm going to a holiday lunch at Mijares. What's the scoop on it? Should I be excited or dreading it?

Craving Good Cream of Mushroom Soup...Not Campbell's

Soup Plantation actually makes a good version. It's only served on Mondays at the location I go to, so you'll want to check out their website for the daily menu of the location closest to you.
