Best DISH in OC / IE

Just found this thread: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/459003, which is similar, yet old and not very complete. Figured it makes sense to add that list here.

On my 'to do' list are to try dishes at:
Mas' Islamic Restaurant
Gen Korean BBQ and Yakitori Bar
Kentro Greek Kitchen
Slater's 50/50
Luna Modern Mexican Kitchen
Habana
The Red Pot
Agora Churrascaria

Any comments on great dishes at these places or better alternatives?

Best DISH in OC / IE

Maybe I should have clarified: best dish at each restaurant. Like your favorite steak, fav mexican, fav sushi... exactly how you answered :)

I'm a noob at OC/IE having just moved here, but gotta add:

Breakfast: banana pecan pancakes @ Silver Dollar Pancake House

I'd kill for a Langer's #19 out here. At least OC has a couple of my old LA favorites:
Criolla Empanada @ Empanada's Place,
Chicken Curry Katsu (spicy) @ Curry House

Curry House

Best DISH in OC / IE

Let's face it: people eat dishes, not restaurants. I've seen a bunch of "best dish in LA" threads, but just moved to Corona (from W.LA) and there's gotta be a lot of good eats along the 91/241 hwy east and west (Orange County, Corona, Riverside)

What's your fav dish? The one that keeps you awake at night.

Weekday lunch in Corona CA (not C del Mar).

I'm interested in this too. Transplant from LA to Norco/Corona and so far it seems like a food wasteland... I'm desperate for good food here.

For me, these are the best cookies and ice-cream sandwiches. I'm guilty in overeating many a time at this place. For me, the price is just a huge added bonus!

Tex-mex in LA?

This looks interesting, but probably too far for us to drive more than rarely. Next time I'm out to the east, I'll have to give it a try.

I should have mentioned I'm on the Westside - willing to drive a bit though.

the best SANDWICH in (Los Angeles) period.

A friend suggested I have the #19. I don't like rye bread, coleslaw, or pastrami... 3 bites into the sandwich, and he was talking to me, but I wasn't hearing anything. The angels wept, and I have never tasted a better sandwich in my life. It is magical.
Brb, I have to change my pants now, just thinking about it.

Tex-mex in LA?

I moved here from Tulsa several years ago, and frequented restaurants in Dallas, Texas. Since moving to LA, I've found many a wonderful new cuisine here, but am deeply missing some of the food from back home, where the style of Mexican is different from here.

Maybe it's tex-mex, sonoran, southwestern, etc., but it's similar to what I had on my trips south of the border. Personally, I care not if it's authentic mexican, I just crave it! I've noticed the styles of 'mexican' vary greatly from what you get in Texas, Arizona, and California, and I'm partial to the first two. Presumably, they all inherit their flavors from the areas they are just north of in Mexico. Someone care to enlighten me?

Prime examples of what I'm on a mission to find in LA:
Uncle Julios (of Dallas): I only ate here once, 7 years ago, and I can't get it out of my mind. Best fajitas, guacamole, and tortillas in my life. The steak wasn't typical LA "whatchamacallit", but top grade. http://www.unclejulios.com/ (I've actually found equally good homemade tortillas here at Paco's Tacos - a very kind little old lady makes them in the corner of the restaurant while you eat, but the rest of the fajita here leaves something to be desired
)Marianos: http://www.marianosrestaurant.com/ind...

Maybe the closest thing I've found here is the chain, On the Border Grill, and Cozymel's, both of which are not up to par.

Please tell me this exists here? I've seen similar threads that seem to end up with the inevitably aweful suggestions of Tito's Tacos, some Taco stand, El Torito, Del Taco, etc. Pllllleeease. Not even in the same category or quality.

West Indian food in West LA?

I spent a year up in Toronto, and fell in love with West Indian food, which doesn't taste very similar to 'regular' Indian, to me. Up there, west indian fast food places were everywhere and served every dish with a side of roti.

I can't find that here. Any suggestions?
