Eating out on Christmas day

I'm tired of eating Chinese food on Christmas day. Is there a reasonably tasty alternative, preferably not in a hotel or totally touristy?

Lunch in Berryessa/Lundy area San Jose

I'm looking for a somewhat upscale restaurant for a casual business lunch in the Berryessa and Lundy area of San Jose. I am not familiar with San Jose, so if there are no good restaurants around there, suggestions for some other reasonably nearby location would be fine. Preferably not Asian food, but any other cuisine would be fine. Thanks in advance.

Jimisan?

Jimisan was a disappointment. It is a comfortable, clean restaurant, and the fish is fresh and reasonably high quality. The mango tuna appetizer was scrumptious. However, the sushi rice was so undercooked that it made it difficult to eat the sushi. Maybe it was an off night, but that should not happen in a good sushi restaurant.

Jimisan?

Has anyone been to Jimisan Sushi recently? Is it any good? I am supposed to eat there with a friend this week, and, being a sushi snob, I am wary....

Sushi in Alameda?

Yume is good, but it closes at 9:30 now and isn't quite as good as it used to be. Kamakura on Santa Clara closes at 10 and is just as good.

Sushi in Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco?

Sushi Sho on Solano in Berkeley is the best. If you are up for a drive, Sakae in Burlingame is also top notch. Also good, Kamakura and Yume in Alameda. Kirala in Berkeley is not worth the horrendous wait and your clothes end up smelling of the food from the robata bar.

sf chowhound visiting on a budget

Any kind of cuisine really, except Asian, which we excel in out here. $20 or under.

dinner in downtown/union square/embarcadero area

I'm looking for a reasonably priced, reasonably quiet restaurant within reasonable walking distance (we are good walkers) from the Caltrain station at 4th and Townsend. I'm not looking for a hot spot or a scene, but a place to take family.

sf chowhound visiting on a budget

I will be visiting next month for five days. I'd appreciate some good budget lunch and dinner recommendations anywhere in Manhattan. I'll be staying in the Battery Park area, and tend to hang out in the Village and Lower East Side, but I'm willing to travel for good budget food.
