Anyone been to Verdad in Bryn Mawr

Skip it. Don't waste your money. We went to Verdad a few weeks after they opened and it was pretty bad. Overpriced and nothing was prepared well. The pitcher of sangria we had was the worst I have ever had. It only had a few pieces of orange on the top.

Good wine retailers near KoP, PA

If you are willing to drive a little while, there is an excellent wine store in Princeton called The Corkscrew. It would take you just about an hour to get there from King of Prussia. Wines there that you won't find at any wine/liquor store in PA. There is also Total Wine in Delaware with a huge selection. As far as closer to King of Prussia, the state store in the Gateway shopping center in Wayne has a fairly good selection with a small room of select wines as well.

Special Girl's Dinner Out - Locations??

I would recommend Majolica. It would be within your price range and the food is very good. I think it is actually better since they reopened than before. I ate there a couple of months ago and had eaten there twice before. I would definitely choose Majolica over 333 Belrose.

Birthday party -- western burbs

It depends what you are looking for. What kind of food would you like and how much are you willing to spend per person? I might be able to suggest a few places, but it depends what you are interested in.

Main Line Chowhounds: Advice on Lourdas Greek Taverna?

I hope you enjoy your meal. I ate here about a year ago and it was one of the worst meals I have ever had. Horrible food. The octopus we had was tough and very chewy. Both of our entrees were extremely greasy. I do not recommend going here.

Confused...don't Philadelphians like brunch?

I recommend Parc, Cuba Libre and Tinto. All have a very good brunch. Sabrina's is pretty good and a little cheaper than the others, but you will probably have to wait. I have been to all of them recently and they were very good.

Really good brunch in or near center city - non-hotel

I had brunch at Parc a few months ago with some friends and it was very good. One of the better brunches I have had in Philly. The bread was very fresh and all of our food and cocktails were delcious. One of the few restaurants that can actually make a good omelet. I would definitely recommend it. Service was also good. I would also recommend Tinto. It is a $25 prix fixe, but you get three courses with excellent choices.

Charming little date spot on the Main Line??

I highly recommend Sola Restaurant in Bryn Mawr for a great date spot. It is a small BYOB with excellent food, creative menu. You should definitely make reservations. I also recommend Alba Restaurant in Malvern, also a BYOB with very good food.

Best Sushi in the Philly Burbs

Kotatsu is Ardmore has excellent sushi. I would definitely recommend them. Margaret Kuo's in Wayne always has good sushi as well, but service was kind of overbearing last time we were there. I often get takeout from there.

101 Bridge

101 Bridge is in Phoenixville. I ate there at the end of November. Food was okay, but I would not say it is worth it for a rare night out without the kids. There are so many other great restaurants in the area.

New Year's Eve dinner on the Main Line

We're eating at Sola Restaurant in Bryn Mawr on New Year's Eve. When I made the reservation, I asked about the menu and they told me they were doing their regular menu along with some very nice specials. I don't think they're the type of restaurant that will raise their prices $5.00 just because it's NYE... I've noticed that some places on the main line will do that (Nectar for example). Sola is byob and usually has a bit of a calmer crowd with no "drunken madness" as you said... food is always excellent.

BYOB - Main Line

I agree. I haven't eaten downstairs at Maia, but have eaten upstairs and it was okay, but not worth the price. I agree Sola in Bryn Mawr is a great BYOB. I can't think of any others near Villanova that are particularly good.

Belgian Beer Glasses in Philadelphia--Looking to purchase

I have purchased beer glasses at the Foodery (10th and Pine) in the past. I haven't been there for a while, so you might want to call them and see what they have, but I remember they had a good selection when I was there.

Paella in Philly?

Yes, Taste of Portugal has an excellent paella. The Paella Valenciana is definitely worth trying and the drive to the NE.

City Line Ave area/Bala Cynwyd?

I have recently dined both at Jake's and at Sola. Jake's is considerably more expensive than Sola and while my meal was fine there, it was not particularly special and my dinner at Sola was wonderful. I would highly recommend trying Sola in Bryn Mawr. The food was presented beautifully at Sola and they have a very nice menu with local ingredients. It is only about 20 minutes or so from City Line Ave/Bala Cynwyd area too.

Where will you go back again (and again)?

Amada and Little Fish.

bachelorette party dinner

I agree, the food at La Fontana Della Citta was mediocre at best and it was extremely loud the Saturday night I was there. I was there with a party of about 12 or so and we were not particularly loud, but the several other large parties in the room were so loud I could barely hear anyone talking who was seated across the table from here. I would not recommend going here. I have heard very good things about both Branzino and Caffe Casta Diva, although I have not been to either one.

my new favorite thing - TINY restaurants

There are quite a few small BYOBs in Philly that are very good. If you haven't tried Pumpkin or Salt and Pepper you should try both of them. I was just at Salt and Pepper a few months ago and had a great meal. Haven't been to Pumpkin in a little while, may have to go back there soon. Also haven't been to Little Fish yet.

Having a birthday - Solaris Grille?

Do not go to Solaris Grille! The service is horrible and the food is not good either. I have been to Cake several times for brunch. It is very pretty inside and the food is good, although there are some service issues. I would still recommend it. Have had a very good frittata, smoked salmon bagel sandwich, and they have excellent tarts and other desserts.

Any new suburban restaurants? fine dining, italian, etc...

For a nice dinner along the Main Line you should try Sola restaurant in Bryn Mawr. If you liked Matyson, Sola's cuisine is similar, contemporary American, french influenced. They are byob and have beautiful stemware with a very seasonal menu. Let me know where you decide to go.

Susanna Foo or Osteria?

Would also recomment Osteria. It is very good.

In Philly for 4 Days

I definitely agree with the recommendation of Amada for great tapas. For fine dining, excellent tasting menu Lacroix is wondeful.
Also highly recommend Osteria. Pizza was delicious as was the pasta, very good cheese course.
In Lancaster, definitely skip Shady Maple. Not worth your time or money. It's a huge buffet, lots of people and not very good food.
Haven't been to Gibraltar, but have heard good things. Log Cabin is okay, pretty setting, but food is just okay, nothing that special.

Salt and Pepper and more!

I was there a couple of months for my birthday and had an great meal. The owner was very friendly. It is very small, but cozy inside. Good quail appetizer and very good mussels. I would also recommend it.

dinner favs near Bryn Mawr Film Institute?

I have dined at Sola many times and would highly recommend it. It is very close to the Film Institute and they have a great $35 prix fixe menu during the week as well. They have a contemporary american, french influenced menu.
