Pimm's in Downtown LA

Looking to celebrate a friend's birthday at a bar, preferably downtown. Only requirement is that the bar must serve a mean Pimm's Cup. Any suggestions?

Bday dinner during Restaurant Week

Bday dinner during Restaurant Week

This year my birthday happens to fall during Restaurant Week! I found a list online (http://gonyc.about.com/cs/restaurants/a/rweekal.htm) of participating restaurants but was hoping to find a rec from someone on the board. I'm celebrating my 21st, so I'm definitely looking for a fun restaurant with a great atmosphere, as well as amazing food. Although, of course, food comes first and foremost :)
Thanks so much!

Long Weekend in Manhattan

So I'm a down and out college student, currently interning in the city for the summer, and I'm lucky enough to have my parents come visit me for a long weekend. We're all natives, but we left the city about 10 years ago, so obviously all the restaurants are new to us. I'm looking for some great places to have lunch and dinner with the parents (breakfast is taken care of at H&H and Barney Greengrass). As far as neighborhoods go, we will travel for anything as long as it's good food.
All of us really hate trendy, hot places (too much hype! and waiting!), and we can really enjoy a good hole in the wall place. All cuisines are on the table, as long as the menu is not strictly fish. My father in particular loves a good wine/drink menu.
Also a plus: bakeries, ice cream, basically the works, ha.

I'm new to the board, so please let me know if there are any more details that I can offer!
Thanks :)
