REALLY spicy food in the Bay Area?

Holy cow-- I just got back from lunch at Ruen Pair. I ordered the Tom Yum noodle soup and asked for it "extra spicy" The waitress gave me a look like I was crazy, then said "If it's too hot we can't fix it" I guess people have complained and/or sent back food 'cause it was too hot. Anyway, I love spice and heat, and this was intense. The heat just kept building. Although VERY hot overall, the broth was very flavorful (could be a bit more sour) and the noodles tender. I kept eating more despite the near pain. My lips are still tingling and are red as are my nostrils. Definitely one for my record books (especially the last few spoonfuls of broth with the settled peppers). Funny that pickled habeneros for example don't really phase me, but this meal really did... in a good way. I'll be back for sure. The waitress was really good about refilling me water, I sure needed it.

Best/favorite Chinese roast pork w/ crackling (Siu Yoke)?

Eating Gum Wah roasted pork (forgot which cut it was) and trying not to get grease on the keys. Got a piece over two pounds for ~$16. VERY crispy skin and succulent flesh, with ample unctuous fat. If anything, the meat could use more seasoning, but I'd say this a great start. The guy cutting the pork had great cleaver skills. Nice hole in the wall place. Their pork gets 3.5 out of 5 stars. : ) Very tasty.

Best/favorite Chinese roast pork w/ crackling (Siu Yoke)?

Thanks for the suggestions! Keep 'em coming if you can. Tomorrow I will check out most likely Gum Wah. I'll look for belly pieces or something almost as fatty (cuts of shoulder should work for crispy skin, right?) and will post how it tastes.

Best/favorite Chinese roast pork w/ crackling (Siu Yoke)?

Hello all. I live in Alameda and will be having a pre - wedding party get together in August by the South Shore for friends and family. We will be grilling, but my mom (who is Chinese) requests that we get Chinese style roast pork with the delectable crispy crackling skin... I absolutely love Siu Yoke, but do not know where the best places to get it in Oakland Chinatown would be. Any recommendations from you guys? There will be 20-25 people and other food available there so it need not be an insane amount of pork. Again, the skin has to be crispy.... man I'm drooling just thinking about it.

thanks for your help,
Marc
