Pissaladiere in Paris?

Can anyone recommend a good place to find pissaladiere? Is it easily available in Paris? I will be doing a lot of walking around the city. Can I find this easily?

Linkwood Single-Malt

DaveT,

Could you describe the Linkwood? I have not had it yet and would love to hear your impression. Next time I am downtown (DC) I will check out my two favorite stores and see what selection they carry.

Always looking to try new single malts.

Thanks,

Making Chicken Soup with Rotisserie Chicken?

'you already have great homemade stock, and the meat of the rotisserie chicken'

this is exactly what I have and your response is what I was looking for.

Thank you---I realized after the first two posts that my wording was terribly off.

Making Chicken Soup with Rotisserie Chicken?

I have homemade chicken stock in the freezer and just bought a rotisserie chicken the other night. Anyone have a good chicken soup recipe that doesn't require cooking the whole chicken at the same time?

I'd prefer one that doesn't have noodles or rice.

Thanks

Recipes using cottage cheese?

I make something JUST like this. I throw in roasted red peppers if I have them and always a little feta cheese. YUM!

Dole Whip

Does anyone know where I can get one of these? Preferably in DC or NOVA. Haven't had one in years.

Uses for dried Cherries (not just baked goods)

Anyone have recipes that use dried cherries? I brought some back with me from MI and I'd like to do something with them. I know I can put them in baked goods just like raisins but I'd like something a little different.

TIA

Farmer's Markets in Vienna?

Are there a lot of FM in Vienna? Are they any good? And are they open daily?

vegetable sides?

Fresh corn off the cob, sauteed briefly, then combined with fresh tomatoes, diced avocado, lime juice and whatever other seasonings sound good. Is it a side dish or salsa? No one knows!

I'm going to have to try this!

Does anyone here host wine tastings or bar tend?

Does anyone here host wine tastings? As in hosting a tasting at a big event? For example, a few years back I attended a benefit in DC and as part of the night's festivities there was a room where two gentlemen were hosting a 'Wines of the New WOrld' half hour seminar. Another room had a chocolate tasting and yet another a foie gras tasting.

I'm interested in what type of licensing you needed to do this.

vegetable sides?

I can't wait to see the responses you get because I am SO tired of mine. During the week I try to keep things simple and healthy so I make a lot of:

steamed broccoli (with butter)
roasted zucchini and summer squash
steamed cauliflower
Napa coleslaw with cucumbers and red peppers and an Asian dressing
baked sweet potatoes (DH needs cinnamon and brown sugar on his)
cut up veggies with dip

boring boring boring

Need some help for Grand Rapids Visit in August

I will be visiting Grand Rapids in a couple of weeks and need a few recommendations.

I would like to know if there is a liquor store that has a really good selection of single malt scotches. I know this may be hard in GR (I did live there a few years) but anything would be appreciated.

And also, is there a restaurant that has a good selection of single malts?

TIA

I'm really looking forward to visiting Russo's, Penzey's, and Kava House when in town.

Interesting Scotch Recommendations

Hey Comestible--I am tasting HP side by side with some GR right now and am now realizing how different they are. CASC and I are finding the HP to be more complex and full than any of the 3 GR we have.

Whenever you can try them side by side let us know what you think. You may still disagree but it makes for a fun day!

I loved your analogy comstible! Let us know if you make it to any of the places CA Scotch Chick mentioned. I may be making a trip up that way soon and would love any recommendations.

Interesting Scotch Recommendations

I'm going to have to try these two side by side sometime. CA Scotch Chick and I will be cracking open three different Glen Rothes over the 4th of July weekend. I think I'll pick up a HP now too.

Comestible---is there anywhere you can order just a finger or two of HP 15 or 18? CA Scotch Chick has had both and actually prefers the 12. Just thought I would suggest that before you shell out the $.

Bourbon Whisky Tasting and Ranking Results... also Bourbon & Coke taste ratings

I was wondering when someone would mention Woodford Reserve. It's not just a great bourbon for the price, it's a great bourbon period. Your description kjpargolf is right on!

Scotch Flights? Tastings?

Please help me out. I'm looking for bars in the city that have scotch tastings or flights of scotch to try. I know of the Royal Mile Pub in Wheaton (and their Thirsday night tastings) but is there anything in DC or NOVA?

There's got to be something.

Interesting Scotch Recommendations

If he likes the Bruichladdich then definitely go with the Bunnahabhain. I also recommend Highland Park 12 and as an introduction to some peat the Caol Ila.

Not a scotch but definitley worthy of drinking is Woodford Reserve. It's bourbon but it's beautiful bourbon.

Loch Dhu - the black scotch

Interesting. So is it a single malt? Is it considered a whisky because of the way it's distilled? It sounds so unlike most whisky's I've had. It even seems out of character compared to the peaty stuff.
