We'll be in Chicago next Friday the 3rd and leaving Monday morning.
First visit for my husband and I. Main reason we're visiting is for the food.
We have great restaurants here in LA, but really want the whole Chicago experience.
I've been reading and reading and reading this board for the last couple of weeks and I don't know where to start.

as far as what we don't want: we don't necessarily want to go to a very fancy shmancy dinner, a steak house like Cut or Mastros here in LA. We really want great food, Chicago style.

the sweet potato noodles dish they make there is awesome! I LOVE their brown rice mixture. I roll some up w/the seaweed and put some of the FARM BOY DRESSING(the sesame one). its divine! btw, that dressing is addicting!

if money is no object, head to the St Regis Monarch for their Sunday Brunch! its amazing and worth every dollar

I picked up a few cupcakes and bite size cheesecakes at Nola Ice in Sherman Oaks. the baked goods are from Se la Vi Sweets. let me tell you...these lil goodies are to dye for! I got 3 flavors of the bite size cheesecakes: key lime, pumpkin and white choc chip... we couldn't stop eating them...I also bought 2 lemon raspberry baby cakes and 2 dulce de leche baby cakes...they're one of the best I've had.

btw, their shaved ice is amazing! so refreshing and sooo darn good.
the owners are super nice and friendly. definitely a worthy visit!

I went to the Michel Cluizel store in Paris and his chocolates are out of this world.

yes, in addition...oops, I almost forgot..I'm making a potato chip crusted salmon as well. is this enough food? I'm always worried I don't have enough.

I'm having a little dinner party this coming week. I will be working all day and will only have about an hour to get everything ready for dinner when I come home.

I already have some appetizers...assortment of olives, peppers and bruschetta w/cannellini beans.

so far for dinner I'll be doing a quick chicken marsala, some roasted asparagus, maybe a penne w/pesto and peas...

can you please recommend a dish I can prepare the night before and stick in the fridge and just heat the night of??? just one catch, it has to be dairy free.

a little off the subject, but we were at Laduree in Harrods last month and the girl at the counter said they may be opening a Laduree in NY. maybe they'll work their way west after that. ..if only we'd be THAT lucky.
