Headed to Toronto--restaurant recommendations?

We've found Frank's Kitchen on College Street to have consistently great food and service.

Casual brewpub or gastropub for party of 14 just before Christmas

You might also want to consider Habits Gastropub at College and Dovercourt. Our experience there has been consistently good food and service, it is within your price range and they have a space that can accommodate a group you size.

HADLEY'S 940 College St -- new BBQ joint

I had lunch at Hadley's today with my wife and her parents and we really enjoyed our meals. We shared their pulled pork sandwich, their smoked chicken club sandwich and the grilled vegetable sandwich.

Everything tasted good and there was a nice smoke flavour in both the pulled pork and chicken club sandwiches. In addition, the fries were fresh cut and done perfectly.

New location of Le Gourmand at Yonge & Eglinton

I work in the office building across the street from this place and on the several occasions that I have gone there, the food has always been quite good but the service is quite frankly disorganized.

They still seem terribly unprepared to handle the lunch time rush that is inevitable at a Yonge & Eglinton location with lots of staff confusion about who has ordered what. I have personally experienced a number of unacceptably long waits for food and when I haven't, I have seen others in line in that situation.

Southern Rub Smokehouse

I was here last night (Saturday, June 6th) with my wife, my older son and 2 friends and we had a great meal.

All of our food was quite good and we found the portions to be very generous.

As the bbq fanatic in the family, I really loved the spare ribs but we all enjoyed the Savanah skins, the chicken wings and the hush puppies.

What was most impressive was the quality of service that we received. We were able to have a great relaxed meal with the food taking exactly the right amount of time and all of the staff was very friendly and willing to share information and details about the food and bbq. They also went above and beyond with us including providing a few extra Savannah skins for one of our dinner party who can't eat cheese, sending us home with some extra corn bread for my younger son who wasn't able to be there with us and loves corn bread and providing extra sauce for the food we took home.

We didn't have room for dessert as we kind of over-did it on the appetizers but next time, I am going to pace myself better so that I can try their cobbler. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we will definitely be back in the near future.

Karuchie Closed???

A sign went up on the door yesterday which simply said "We're Closed thanks guys"

I walked by today and there was a notice from the landlord about non-payment of rent so it looks like it is permanently gone

Too bad as my wife and I had been there 4 or 5 times and always enjoyed our meals there
