In Town for a 18th Birthday Dinner

thanks for the ideas

In Town for a 18th Birthday Dinner

I am looking for a recommendation for nice/ interesting place that has been a 'good place' for awhile.( i.e. not a place that wasn't around 8 months ago.) Not into going to the latest place because it is the 'latest place'. Tried Scaramouche (classic) but not available, so that would be the high end example, prefer downtown....French / Italian.....we have the usual places that we go to which one can find on a list of the top 50 places to eat in the city. We are trying to think outside the box yet not so outside that our 18 year old refuses to go in, ideas?

Family Friendly in Ottawa

Visiting the city this weekend and am looking for some rec's for good places that are family/kid friendly. I have read a couple of the threads about Ottawa and they sound great but they may be beyond my nine year old. Brew Pubs? Family Dinners? Pubs?.

John's - A quick review. 1048 Bathurst, 1 block south Dupont, Italian style

i was there for dinner last friday and had a very nice dinner with my wife and two kids. the were four others having dinner but that was it, so the service was quick and the food fresh and as the other review noted it was reasonably priced. the location is not user friendly and i imagine they will have a tough go of it. for those who frequent the tarragon you now have one more option

A Fine Burger, the Sandwich Not So Much

Had a Burger from the stockyards yesterday afternoon and was again pleased. Cooked med-rare, fresh toppings and a nice soft bun. However I had the pastrami sandwich the week before and was not pleased at all. Not sure if it was an off day or what but I thought to myself, 'This is what people are talking about'.
