Arpege in Paris. My first 3 star meal and still the most memorable.
My current drink of choice:
I have been brewing my own hard cider from fresh pressed local apples. It is awesome.
I really wish I could:
master a perfect risotto. It seems like I do it pretty well until I have a great one at an Italian resto again.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
BBQ pork butt. I like a house full of people and I can feed an army!
My favorite comfort food:
Open-faced roast beef sandwich smothered in rich gravy.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Arpege - Masas - French Laundry - Inn at Little Washington - Fleur De Lys. Not the best 5 I've had, but all have special sentimental attachments.
My most tattered cookbooks:
Tough call. Probably Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I don't make that many of her dishes, but I make four or five of them A LOT and it is really old.
