I'm heading to disneyland with the kids next week and would like some ideas on where to eat. Rec's for inside the park and Downtown Disney would be great. I haven't heard much about the food, so i would like some ideas on the best places to go. Thanks!

Pork buns..he might purpose if i find them...

so my boyfriend has been looking for pork buns at a chinese restaurant forever. everywhere we go to order pork buns they are like dumplings...the kind he is looking for has pork in the middle and an actual bread like bun surrounding the pork...like i said, everywhere we've tried there is pork in the middle but then a doughy dumpling like thing surrounding it. i'm convinced that what he's looking for isn't even called a pork bun but whatever...so he lives in belmont, but would happily travel to the city for the pork bun he's looking for...any ideas?

State fair food!

So I'm hitting up the state fair this weekend, and I know there's a lot to choose from in the food department. (I'm SO excited!) Are there any must haves at the fair? I've heard something about some really good tacos but other than that I'm on my own...

Cheez Whiz Cheesesteaks?

So I finally had my cheez wiz cheesesteak. I went to Jersey Joe's this weekend and it was great! It was almost perfect, I just wished they used different rolls. I'll try the cheese steak shop next, but I was very happy with Jersey Joe's...

Cheez Whiz Cheesesteaks?

I used to go to pennsylvania a couple of times a year and I would always eat at this cheesesteak place that used cheez whiz for the cheese. It might sound strange but it is AMAZING! I seriously dream about them! Does anyone know any places in the bay area or sacramento area that do a cheez whiz cheesesteak?

Downtown Sac date night....

I'm picking up my super cute boyfriend at the train station downtown sacramento tomorrow evening and would like to get dinner. I'm thinking somewhere small, intimate, good food and reasonable prices. I want to stay away from anything too "hot spot-ish" (e.g. Mikuni) and would prefer to stay downtown or old town. Any ideas? Type of food doesn't really matter...

Wineries with good wine + picnic area

Casa Nuestra is a "funky" little winery on Silverado trail in St. Helena. Think tie-dye and framed paintings of Elvis, it's pretty cool something different than all of the other wineries...They sell wine by the glass there. We brought food from the deli at V.Sattui and had a picnic at Casa Nuestra! I loved it and there was no one there but us...nothing like the zoo that is V. Sattui...

Affordable SF Ambiance?

I will be taking a train into the city tonight and would like to find a place for dinner. We don't have a lot of money but love good food. I'd like somewhere that's affordable, small (think hole in the wall) yet has a bit of a romantic ambiance. Type of food doesn't really matter...help please?

Fort Bragg Recs please!

A couple of my friends are going to Fort Bragg tomorrow and I would like to help them find some good eats. One of them is a vegetarian, but other than that, any rec's would help. They would need breakfast lunch and dinner. Thanks!

Back A Yard in Menlo Park report...

Ok so I didn't make it to Pine Mountain this weekend but I was in Belmont again. After searching the boards I had heard a lot about Back A Yard in Menlo Park. I've been dying for some jerk chicken so I went. I walked in (so excited by the way and starving) and the place reminded me of a hole in the wall taqueria in San Diego or something. It was very small, a few tables around and packed full of people. All the seats were full and there was a line literally out the door. (Oh ya, it was 8:00 Friday night) So I ordered a vegetable patty, and the white meat jerk chicken. I then was so excited that I was there (seeing the chef through the kitchen doors) that I had to tell the lady at the register just how excited I was and how I had heard such great things about them on this site...I think she thought I was crazy....oh well.

So the food took a little while and the place never slowed down. We ordered to go since there wasn't a seat in the place. We got the food and I seriously ran to the car and grabbed the vegetable patty. It was good, I think it could have had more filling and a little less "pocket" though. So the one mistake I made was ordering the white meat chicken. The meat was dry. BUT the flavor was PERFECTION!!! I was wary from reading past recs that it wouldn't be spicy enough (I like to sweat when I eat) but I thought the heat was perfect. People on hear had mentioned how you can taste the layers of spices, and you really can. It was amazing. It came with the red beans and rice which were delicious, especially with the jerk, and the fried plantains. The plantains were delicious also, they were just carmelized sugary goodness.

So, needless to say I was very happy, I think next time I'm going to get the dark meat jerk chicken with the oxtails, I bet they are great. I can't wait to go back!!

Wine country question - I really did search first!

Market is still there and it's very good. The mac and cheese is great, and they have a smore's dessert on the menu...It comes out dissasembled with a fire torch thing for you to roast the marshmellows...it's fun and soo yummy!

I second the rec for Frank Family Vinyards..Also you should try Dutch Henry, small, unpretentious, and great wines you can only buy there. It's right between St. Helena and Calistoge on the Silerado Trail. One of my first and favorite winery experiences was Vincent Arroyo also. Something a little different and close to where you're staying is Casa Nuestra. It's a funky little place...think hippie/ rock and roll Elvis memorabilia...we brought food from V. Sattui (artichoke cream cheese yummmm) and had a picnic there. Have fun!

Pine Mountain, Groveland, Sonora this weekend..

I will be staying at Pine Mountain Lake this weekend for the first time. I've searched the board and got some good rec's for Sonora that I'll probably try. I'd like to find something a little closer to the lake though...any ideas? I plan on trying Comacho's (sp?) in Sonora and Whoa Nellie's Deli...not sure where that's at yet though...
