Castle style building - Scranton vicinity
Wow! ! ! I have to reply to my own posting. How lame is that?!?!?!
Regarding the Pittston PA remark: I tried to talk my family in spending a Thanksgiving weekend at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. They started to get excited until I described the situation -
Thanksgiving weekend would be dismal, weather-wise. We would get up early to see the hazy sunrise, walk the beach in the chilly early morning while experiencing the splash of cold salt spray over us.
Then a lunch at one of the few open eating places, and later have a sit down thanksgiving dinner at a family restaurant, if I could find one. Otherwise, frozen TV turkey dinners. After all, turkey is traditional.
The hotel / motel / hostel would probably not have the heat turned on yet, but the beds would probably be much better than sleeping in my VW camper van.
All in all, a weekend in hell.
So why go?
Because we would better appreciate that which we have
and
it really would be a Thanksgiving to remember.

Thanks for the info.
It seems The Nook was taken over by Coopers Seafood.
We stopped by for lunch and had a very satisfying meal. Unfortunately, the 8 oz sirloin steak came back over cooked, and the mini petite lobster tails (3) were as expected and disappointing.
I guess there are better places to go, but this was a stroll back in memory lane for our short family. My son did recognize the restaurant as the one he had in his memory some 17 years ago, and I liked seeing the depressed area of Pittston PA. It made me appreciate my home much more.
barry PS I would LOVE to have the restaurant that you showed in your reply. Perhaps it might be more affordable now, if still on the market.
PPS Still looking for an adventure in Frogs Leggs, if anyone cares to comment. I remember them in Vietnam, and at a place near Seneca NY, along the finger lakes.
Cooper's Seafood in Pittston PA
Can anyone recommend this waterfront restaurant for lunch??
What's their best dish??
I want to stop by on Friday with my family.

I am in Fairfax Virginia, and I am goint to Scranton PA this Friday.
My son remembers a 'castle stle' restaurant near Scranton, that we went to many, many years ago. He remembers frogs legs, and that the 'castle style' restaurant was along side of a hill, and the building was a stand alone and in the country side. I remember a drive way up to the restaurant, alongside of the road. Wish I could draw a picture....
Help!!
Also, I am looking for a restaurant called "TheNook" near Pittston or Duryea PA.
All else failing, a family (with atmosphere) restaurant for lung Friday, along rt 81, from Harrisburg to PA.
Perhaps 'Top of the Eightys'?? (rt 81 & rt 80)
Thanks
