86 year old father needs bland food in NO. Is it possible?
My father also needs a bland diet and always finds something at Mandina's to satisfy.
Marathon Meal--A Mano, The Italian Barrel, or Cafe Giovanni
I read the thread title and assumed you wanted a meal that lasted a really long time like you were going to the chair...hope you're having a good time!
Indian food in the New Orleans area?
Sara's in the Riverbend does some nice Indian dishes.
Good Restaurant to Propose At?
Rib Room at the Omni Royal Orleans has intimate window tables facing Royal St.
you could also pick up a bottle of champagne and go flutes at Vieux Carre Wine and Spirits and take a buggy ride before or after dinner. just catch one in front of Jackson Square

Looking for King Cake
online, order form either Haydel's Bakery or Rouses. I'm from NOLA, and they are the best of the online king cakes.

I just inhaled a heavenly hash filled king cake from Rouses.

NOLA hound needs recs for NYC this weekend
Arriving this Friday 7pm, and need a rec for dinner Midtown East. We are very adventurous eaters and prefer to eat what we can't find or cook at home. Because of a hectic travel day, we want to stay close to the hotel that night.
Saturday and Sunday, we plan to eat our way thru Manhattan and looking for recs in any neighborhood and any type of food. Wine shops, Farmers' Markets, food stores, dives, hidden gems...
Lastly, celebrating a 50th Bday on Sunday, so what would be a not to miss experience? brunch or dinner? Not looking to spend $200 a head or for anything overly formal or touristy, as this is a laid back trip. Just want to eat like a local and explore.
So, if you had 2 days, 3 nights and were going to the chair on Monday, where would you eat? And yes, I've searched this board extensively, but would appreciate any input.
Thanks!
2 days in New Orleans where should I eat?
and I'll add Mandina's and Katie's on Iberville, both accessible by the Canal St. streetcar. Restaurant August has a 3 course $20 lunch on weekdays.
Any buzz about this years crawfish season?

Looking for new places to eat
Dijon is opening tonight! Chef Chris Cody, formerly of Pellicano, at the former FIRE location. A friend went last night and loved it.
Jazz Fest
hey JB, miss it terribly, and will try to get back more often this year.
I'd kill for some oysters right now! hoping to get a sack sent up here for our Eureka Gras.
but back to Clancy's, I've even had the OwB for dessert. cheers~
large group..casual atmosphere...loud...need help
Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse has a kewl room overlooking Iberville Street. you can get as rowdy as you want and watch the action pass by.
for a table of that size, Mr. B's might stick you in the back in the dark.
skip Antoine's.
Going crazy trying to decide. Mr. B's, Antoine's or Galatoire's?
go early and sit upstairs at the bar have a Brandy Milk Punch before your 9:30.
Jazz Fest
and here's your third! oysters w/brie, veal chop, smoked soft shells, and a frozen brandy alexander for dessert!

it's a smaller sandwich, with similar meats, cheeses, olive salad as the muff. the bread is easier to eat and a tasty alternative if you don't want all that bread.
Low to mid-range Nola restaurants
streetcar down Canal and walk to Katie's on Iberville in Mid-City.
streetcar uptown to Zea's, Irish House or Boucherie
Going crazy trying to decide. Mr. B's, Antoine's or Galatoire's?
Galatoire's rocks a mean lamb chop bearnaise.
Looking for Fried Catfish Plates and Fried Catfish Po Boys in Downtown New Orleans

there is nothing enjoyable or intimate about being in the back corner. it happened once; it never happened again.
