Ate My Way Through Brooklyn -- Thanks!
I'm so glad you took the trip to Bensonhurst. Although not what it once was, there are still several little Italian jewels there. I have lived here for 15 years (originally from New Haven's Little Italy, i.e., Pepe's and Sally's) and I never lack for something good to eat.
Budd Lake - Randolph, NJ
I used to live in Budd Lake (for a very short time). We never went out to dinner. There was nowhere to go.
So what's in your tuna sandwich?
I make it the same way without the butter. I'll have to give the butter a try.
Bensonhurst/Gravesend recs?
There are two Chinese groceries. Chang Wang is on Bay Parkway by 67th St. (south side). Early Bird, which is brand new, is on Bay Parkway by 67th St. (north side). I like Chang Wang better . . . more variety.
Angels Bakery in Brooklyn
They have a website with their products on it.

I've never been, but all the convenience stores in my neighborhood carry their products, so I don't think you should travel for 2 hours.
Bensonhurst/Gravesend recs?
I live right there. The bakery is Rimini. Nice bread, pastries and cakes. A few doors down is Torre's Restaurant. Delicious Italian food, but I don't care for the pizza (lousy crust). The Chang Wang Supermarket at 67th & Bay Parkway has a great selection of fresh fish at reasonable prices.
best margaritas
I use Cuervo Gold, Cointreau, simple syrup instead of sugar, fresh limes and then top each one off with a drizzle of Grand Marnier.
Big Italian Heroes Near Brooklyn Heights?
The subject is Big Italian Heroes. I'm sure not every restaurant you like has them.
Di Fara Closed due to extreme weather
That has to be the understatement of the year!

ISO Taylor Ham (pork roll)
It's a pretty regional thing . . . Jersey and Western PA. That said, you can call 877-979-9499 and get it shipped to you from New Jersey (3 lb. & 6 lb. sizes).
Is the quality of the food at Lucali dipping?
Maybe the boss is on vacation and a substitute is cooking.
CHEAP Restaurants in Astoria
Taverna Kyclades - 33-07 Ditmars Boulevard. Almost every entree is under $20.00. Lunch is an even better bargain. Dee-lish!!!
Di Fara Closed due to extreme weather
The most powerful a/c will do nothing with people coming in and out all day (not to mention the competition from the oven).
fiesta mexicana -- gone again?
If you are referring to Jackson Heights, Time Out New York says it's closed.
Di Fara Closed due to extreme weather
"It wasn't even that hot today."
Try standing in a small enclosed place with a 700+ degree oven, 90% humidity, the constant opening and closing of the door and many people crowded around you and then tell me it's not hot.
What time does Perfect Team open on weekdays?
Why don't you try this: (718) 888-9996
Gus' pickles?
For the second part of your question, they will be relocating to Boro Park where they are sure to have a captive audience (very Jewish neighborhood).

best sicilian (square) pizza pie in ny/nj?
I don't like it either. There are two things, however, I do like about the place:
1. The outside seating in nice weather
2. The spumoni is really good
Therefore, next time you're in the area, have a spumoni and sit outside
Recommendations? Start with oysters on half shell, followed by steak
What about the most famous of them all?

Varenichnaya in Brighton Beach, Russian
I have wanted to try Russian dumplings in Brighton Beach for some time. I will check this place out. Also, the NY Times had a rather nice review of another place close by:

Great pizza in Italian Brooklyn
Take the N train to 18th Avenue in Brooklyn. It lets you out at 64th Street & 18th Avenue. On the corner there is J&V Pizza. Nice pepperoni pie. Walk down 18th Avenue towards 86th Street and you'll find maybe 15 pizzerias as well as Italian bakeries. You can nibble your way down the street on pizza, pastry & Italian ice. 18th Avenue is the heart of what is left of Brooklyn's little Italy.
DiFara Price Hike
Stuartlafonda, it is NOT unimportant to me. I just don't think it's the second coming of Christ. I've tasted it, it's good, it's nothing to die over. As said before, "It's F-ing pizza." Get over it!!!
Brunch plus entertainment?
You are so right, Tay. Forgot about the budget part, but they could order burgers and lunch is not nearly as expensive as dinner.
