CHOW Reviews: KitchenAid 5-Speed Custom Metallic Blender KSB580

I've had this blender for a couple of years (the previous model, if not this one) and seriously love it. Why? 1) first blender I've had with a solid base, so no leaks. Why has it taken so long for this design? it is MUCH easier to clean that the old "blades come apart from the base/rubber seal that always leaks" design and 2) I seriously like the wider bottom of the container -- much easier to get all the blended gunk out. Like Zackly, I don't use it to chop firewood, and have been very happy with the performance and the design.

Restaurant near Coca Cola museum?

I think you're right about La Fonda, Ted. I've been to a couple of their other locations, I think this location has the best food. I've been disapointed by Six Feet Under.

Need dinner recommendation for Downtown Atlanta, business meeting for fun foodies

I agree with JCT. I haven't been to Wisteria, but Jct works with groups and the food is great, while presenting plenty of safe choices.

Also, there is a very nice Latin place, La Fonda, that is moderately priced with a great range of choices, particularly if you have kids. It on Howell Mill, before you get to Star Procisions. I had the grilled fish burrrito yesterday. They have a great patio.

If you have a car, there are several great places on N Marietta/Holcombe Bridge. If you're willing to go about 10 minutes (5 on a Sat), you could run up to Star Provisions. The store is in the front space of Baccanalia-- the Baccanalia kitchen does the cooking for th lunch counter. You will spend $10 for a sandwich, but several of them are sublime. I recommend the fried fish on fresh brioches bun or any of the po-boys. The bakery has scrumptious cookies. A bit closer (but still on Marietta) is Spoon Thai. Really really good. You can well for $10.

SOUTHERN FOOD ATL. Only have time for one, which is the best? Mary Mac's, Collanade...?

My recommendation is Watershed, in Decatur. Scott Peacock emphasizes the fresh foods that are the heart of true southern cooking -- regional veggies, revisited classics. No fried chicken except on Tuesdays, but I've never been disapointed in a meal there.

Last time I went to Mary Mac's I was very disapointed. Food has definitely gone downhill. Colonnade is WONDERFUL and is a good second choice. Colonnade has a great vibe. And they mix a mean cocktail. Be sure to have a designaed driver. That said, some of the classic veggies are a bit tired. If you do go to Colonnade, go for the fried chicken, enjoy a few rolls, and save room for strawberry pie.
