Any good sushi place near fairmont hotel?
I will be in Chicago for more than a week. Can someone please recommend a good Japanese restaurant that's not too far from the metro or within 10 mins of walking distance? How's Aria within the hotel?
Thanks
Nine-Ten
I am about to make a reservation at Nine-Ten for dinner. What are your favorite dishes there? How is the tasting menu (will it take 3+ hours to complete the experience)? TIA!!
[SAT] Le Reve is closing
http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/La_Reve_is_closing.html
It is not a new news but it is a news for those don't know it. Hurry up and make a reservation before it closes!
La Jolla- Georges at the Cove
Would you still recommend the formal dining room for lunches? Does it have a view of the ocean? I;ve heard so many good things about this place and can't wait to try it out. :)
[SAT] Le Reve is closing
This news is hard to swallow.
"Le Reve, Andrew Weissman’s renowned contemporary French restaurant in downtown San Antonio, will close on Oct. 31. In the meantime, Le Reve is open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for dinner only."
Recommendations needed for Little Tokyo
Yum! If you can only go to one between Sushi Gen and Izayoi, which one would you choose? or they have different focus?
Recommendations needed for Little Tokyo
Can someone recommend a couple places for good sushi/Japanese food near Little Tokyo other than Daikokuya? Thank you!
[SAT] High Tea in San Antonio?
I have heard of Mad Hatters, but from the look of their website it looks more like a college kids place. I will definitely give it a try though... maybe this weekend!
Thank you for your recommendation bronwen!!
Seeking for the WOW experience in LA
What a great way to start my day by reading all the wonderful responses! Urasawa looks like the traditional kaisaki we liked so much on our last trip to Kyoto. Thank you guys!
Seeking for the WOW experience in LA
I will be in LA in a few weeks and hoping to try as many great restaurants in LA as my schedule allows.
Can you recommend: (price is not an issue)
- A Japanese restaurant offers omakase
- A restaurant for stargazing
- A modern or ethnic restaurant
Thank you!
[SAT] Texas Monthly's Best Burger - The Cove??
While I was wandering in Whole Foods this past weekend, I came across Texas Monthly's Best Burger list. Apparently the best burger in San Antonio is not Chris Madrid's, Bigz, Flip... but "the Cove"? I always thought the Cove is mainly a music venue and never gave its food a second thought.
What do you think about their burgers? What would you recommend?
[SAT] High Tea in San Antonio?
Is there a good high tea place in or around San Antonio? I really miss the Four Seasons and Driskill high tea experiences and hoping to find a decent place locally.
High tea in and around Austin?
How did you like Tanalees after your visit? Is it better than the Ambrosia Tea Room in Salado?
L 'Etoile -- San Antonio -- Any Thoughts?
Fredericks is old school French with stuffy and run down decor. The food is definitely Not up to par with other French restaurants in town IMHO. I personally love Bistro Vatel and Le Reve.
Best Korean in San Antonio?
I really like this authentic restaurant called Koreana on Harry Wurzbach. There is a Korean market called Seoul Oriental Food Market near by and has a little restaurant in it. I haven't yet tried the restaurant in the market but it looks very authentic without any visible English menu on the wall... GL!
Chinese in San Antonio??
I love the Pepper Seafood or the Pepper Ribs! I have not yet tried the fish hotpot. This weekend maybe? HAhah
[SAT](salty)Citrus - Hotel Valencia
I have to say the service has been greatly improved from your experience last year, or maybe we just got lucky and had a great waiter? I am more concerned about the food. I really hate to see a little gem like this go...
[SAT](salty)Citrus - Hotel Valencia
They should probably change the name of the restaurant to "SALT" instead of Citrus.
Don't get me wrong. Citrus is probably the best kept secret in San Antonio river walk area. A very romantic and intimate little restaurant tucked in the gorgeous hotel valencia. We were just there the past Sunday evening and we practically had the whole restaurant by ourselves. The wait staffs were helpful and friendly. The crab cake was the best I've had so far... so creamy but vibrant at the same time. The only and the biggest complain was that all dishes were very salty. So salty that I had to keep drinking water the whole night after dinner.
I really want to go there again to try other dishes. Is there anything there less salty? The fish dishes maybe?
Chinese in San Antonio??
If you like authentic Chinese food I would highly recommend Kim Wah chinese BBQ in Leon Valley. This is the only Chinese restaurant I like with a Cantonese/Chinese chef. Try the Beijing Duck Two Ways, Kim Wah Tofu on a sizzling plate, the dry Beef Chow Fun, or something from their Special Board (a white board with Chinese/English).
The authentic Chinese restaurants tend to go out of business in San Antonio...
Chinese in San Antonio??
Asia Kitchen is pretty good for americanized Thai food. I like their pad thai /sesame chicken and especially the thai whole fried fish with chili sauce if you are willing to wait for 15 mins. Nonetheless a good quick place for lunch with a very reasonable price.
[SAT]Seeking for Type 55 (French Style) flour
Does anyone know where I can find the French Style (Type 55) flour in San Antonio? I looked Whole Foods and Central Market and couldn't seen to find them.
Where can I buy dried fruit powder in bulks
todao - Thanks for the recommendation but I was hoping to purchase the powder in a larger quantity and most importantly, a bit cheaper than $20 per 140g. Thanks though.
Chinese in San Antonio??
Kim Wah is a great place for Chinese/Taiwanese food. They have a pretty authentic menu with pictures of all the dishes. Get some thing from the Special Board and the Chef's Special.
Chinese in San Antonio??
I was in shock to find that Chef Chan's Tea House was closed. It used to be my favorite dim sum place in SA. Does anyone know what happened?
I now go to Jin's right across instead but I really do miss the peking duck, HK style pan-fried noodles and weekend dim sum from Chef Chan's!
Where can I buy dried fruit powder in bulks
I am making desserts that water is prohibited in the recipe. I would like to add flavors and colors to what I am making.
Does anyone knows where I can buy fruit powder for a bit cheaper?
[SAT] Chef Chen's - Out of business??
I thought they were just closed for a few days but it seemed like they were out of business. Did they move to a new location?
It would be a shame if they were closed for good. I can't believe Panda Express is slowly pushing authentic Chinese restaurants out of SA.
