Business dinner for 15; private room needed

Hey San Diegan,

I need a recommendation in Downtown SD for 15 people. Price isn't an object (corporate card) and I need a private room. I've called Mister A, but they are booked up. Any ideas? Thank you!!!

Wine bars that host parties -- anyone?

I hosted my bday party last weekend at Casavino Long Beach. Great venue with affordable prices on flights.

Check it out. They have live music a couple of nights as well.

RECOMMENDATION NEEDED: Hollywood Area

Hey Fellow CHs,

We have friend's and family (12-14 people) visiting this Saturday night and we haven't finalized a place for dinner yet. Since some people in this group are price sensitive, I want to stay between 15-25 bucks, excluding drinking. Oh yeah, they can eat. The group consist of people in their 20's so I"m looking for something fun/hip as well.

I had Miceli in mind but I know that's just another version of Buca. I don't want to do Chinese either.

Please help! Thanks!

All you can eat sushi in Los Angeles-Long Beach

Joe's Sushi in LA Palma. 1.5 hours all you can eat for about 25 bucks. It's a deal if you know how to eat the good stuff. Fresh is so so...but they make anything you want! And they are quite creative with their rolls.

Hanabi - New Long Beach Sushi Bar

I ate at Hanabi several times and the butterfish is excellent. If you're looking for butterfish in the LBC, this place has it...and it's only 5.99!

lunch spots

El Ricoto is terrible. The food is terrible and the ambiance isn't much better. Unfortunately, North Long Beach is lacking in terms of places to entertain clients. THere is a gem called "ARTE CAFE" located at the Cerritos Towne Center. Tell Richard to cook you guys something specials and he'll make it a memorable night.

THere are many CHinese/Korean places out in Cerritos. Just look it up with Chowhound.

Wine Bars

Oooh I'll have to try Morry's. Have you heard about Gaslamp's wine tasting on Thursday? How is it?

What's your favorite oddball candy?

Those are called HAW-FLAKES!! A cheap asian friend of mine tried selling them off individually during grade school days....

Hi-Chew are the best candy around!!!

Arte Cafe in Cerritos

Anyone try this place? I've been several times and always ordered the fixed menu for $49. I've yet to have a disappointing dinner there.

There are very few places in Cerritos that offer a good meal outside of chain dining. This French-Continental-Asian fusion restaurant serves up good food at a good price for Cerrtios standards.

Does anyone know of any great "Chef Special" meals in the Cerritos area?

Sushi in the South Bay recs

Momoyama was great when it opened a couple years back but the quality has definitely been on the decline. They had a Japanese chef there in the beginning but he left...downhill since.

Sushi Sei has very creative omakase. You should give them a try.

Cerritos College Culinary Awards?

Has anyone heard of the highly rated Culinary program at Cerritos College? Well I researched it and the menu looks great. Anyone tried it?

Where do you like to eat in Redondo Beach?

If you venture south a few blocks, I would recommend Christine's for dinner. They have a private room as well for your 10 guest. Chez Melange is going downhill. Christine's is one of the few places you can still get a decent LA meal. Good Luck!

Thai Shrimp Toast anywhere???????

I remember eating an amazing "Thai Shrimp Toast" in Ko Samui, Thailand. Shrimp toast is a piece of toasted bread with diced shrimp and some sweet sauce on top. It was amazing. However, there are no places in LA that serve it. When I bring it up to the waitresses, they give me fish cakes.... any help? Thanks!!!
