Not sure how long ago you were there, but it might have been Muriel's. Gone now but they did win a lot of Chowder Cook Offs.

We're heading for a wedding in New Bedford in mid December. Any recommendations for Portugese food or good eating ? I've only been there to shop at Sid Wainer's for those hard to find piquillo peppers.

Is there any hope for a decent meal anywhere in the area? We thought maybe having a coll ege would help the food wasteland that is some parts of MN. And I can complain because I was born and raised in MN.
Salvation Cafe or Perro Salado in Newport?
Tough choice...but I think the edge goes to Salvation.
Dinner in Kent, Ohio Mangiamo's gone
We are traveling through Ohio in June. We had reservations at Mangiamo's only to discover that it burned down in May. The same people also own Bistro on Main in Kent. Anyone had any experience with it or any other gem of non-chain food.

Percy's is gone. Try Pronto. It's further down Thames. The chef/owner is excellent. The menus changes regularly.
one night...la porte indiana
We're passing through. Have eaten at a golf club close to the interstate and it was very good. Nice wine list and fresh ingredients in simple food. Any other suggestions?

Scales and Shells--no reservations--no credit cards--personal check or cash. Cafe Zelda--make reservations. Mama Luisa's--make reservations. All great for dinner and each is unique. I also like Salvation Cafe
