Bedford Hills, NY - Food shopping?
I live in Mt Kisco. I shop at to many place because of different prices and things I need. The A &P in MK is expensive but go when I need only a few items...I go to the Shoprite in Bedford Hills I always walk out with alot for my money especially compared to A&P. That being local I do drive to Trader Joe's when I need good frozen items. Also Turco's in Yorktown Heights, again a little expensive but that;s just my opinion.
Any notable seafood shacks between NY and New Haven?
Where is the Glenwood drive inn? Also in South Norwalk there's a shack I think it's on Seaview Avenue next to a restaurant that's on the harbor..Can't think of the name....
Any notable seafood shacks between NY and New Haven?
Been trying to get to Abotts forever and it just won't happen this summer. They close right after labor day. I have to agree with the Lazy Lobster....I agree it's nothing spepcial but compared to mayo-lob rolls in Westchester I'll take it!
Half Moon
The problem in these places is that the service and the food is hit or miss depending who goes and what happens. Alot of waiters are just doing this for the extra cash and not much more. Also if the managers would actually train their waiters service would improve and problems of bad srvice wouldn;t happen so much. And it's summer time the busiest time so the hired help are summer jobs. I go for drinks only at this place since I don't want to have a bad experience.
Need a nice restaurant for a 75th Birthday
I know many places in Westchester County but I am hoping someone might give me some new ideas for a nice place to go for a special occasion but not to fancy. Thanks!
Mt Kisco, Jamaican?
Well is there really a need for another resto in this area? lol...That way it's means I can eat less and shop more!
Mt Kisco, Jamaican?
Good to know! I will be going back either way. When I went it was only open for 3weeks and they were still getting themselves situated..waiting for tables etc...Can't wait!
Oh Boy Stamford...BIG NEWS!
Ok so Stamford it's going to open or Pelham? I am so confused!
Recent dining at 42 in White Plains?
If food is ok and not as good as it should be or service sucks why do people go back again??? I don't get it
New Bistro in Mount Kisco
Sister is going tonight so I am looking foward to getting the scoop
New Bistro in Mount Kisco
I walked by the other day and I saw that the place was finally getting there. It's going to be called FAB.....French American Bistro. It' across the street from The Fish Cellar next to Tiger Schulmans. Anyone know the scoop of the opening???
Bakeries in Mount Kisco/Chappaqua
Now funny that I prefer La tulipe than L;'anjou. I am from France and La Tulipe hits it right on the nail with thier cakes by not making them to americanized and heavy. No pies there!!
Japanese hibachi in Westchester
I don;t recommend Okinawa in Mt kisco. I live up the street and haven't been there in 3 years almost. The servers were rude and the rolling of the eyes when ordering drinks was enought to piss me off. Also they liked to hang at the bar and chitchat...Never thought there was a mangaer around....That being said the one in Yorktown is supposed to be better... Mostof thesee places everyone is talking about is good. Nothing crazy but a fun night for the kids and adults. Happy Birthday!
Peking Duck in Westchester?
Cool I will have to go check Watermoon. But I guess I'd have to go to Peking Duck House in Chinatown if I am really in the gotta have it mood.
Need help in Westchester for this Sunday
Sammy's Downtown in Bronxville would be good. I know they don't have highchairs for the little one but service is on key and the food is good. They are used to people eho need extra attention and can be particular... I go there whenever I can. Good luck!
Eating Al Fresco in lower Westchester
The only thing is that Seaside Johnny's is that the view of the sound is really really nice the food and service is terrible. I haven;t been there in ages. Maybe someone can tell me that they got better? It reminds me of Sunset Cove...
Peking Duck in Westchester?
I was wondering if anybody knew a restaurant that makes a great Peking Duck? I use to go to a place in Chester Heights, can't think of the name, but they changed since I've been there a few years ago....Thanks!!
Eating Al Fresco in lower Westchester
I will have to go back and try Harvest again. Menton1 I wasn't trying to be rude or anything..... I was trying to say that certain restaurants know people will come b/c of reputatuion, view, prices etc...and so they lack service or the food is hit or miss. I just had 2 bad experiences on the Hudson and choose to not bother with other places fearing I would be dissapointed again. But I agree that Sunset Cove is awful....
Eating Al Fresco in lower Westchester
I have to just disagree on the nice view=medicore food. Half-moon and Harvest on the Hudson have a reputation of hit or miss with service (i always had miss and never went back) and their food was ok. Granted not Michelin but they can both can do better job with the kitchen. Considering that it's a restaurant group that owns this place and many others in Westchester, they have the money do things right.
A real butcher in Westchester?
Thanks Roxlet...I just didn;t know the names of the places! Sorry Jon1856!! Arthur ave good idea....Didn't think of that either...I never go down that way. I guess it would be a good exuse to take a drive down there and see what's all the hype is about.
The Empanada Lover's Guide To Westchester County
Wow that is sad! I love empanadas and when I heard they first opened I rushed over there. I met him and his wife. She was there eith the baby who was like 3weeks old at the time. Loved his empanadas. I will check out the list but I have to agree any latin place will have them on thier menu. Ok time to raod trip!
Prayers and condolences to the family.
Any good restaurants on the water or sound?
Now the nice weather has finally arrived I am looking for some nice restaurants that are local and are on the Hudson River or LI Sound...Don't mind driving into CT either! It seems to have slipped my mind about where to go..Thanks!!
Anyone been to Louis Lunch in New Haven?
Oh ok...well Tacos will not be on this food road trip. Thanks
A real butcher in Westchester?
I can't think of the name but if I recall theres one in Bronxville? And I think one in Fleetwood. I think they are brothers who own it. I know there's one locally since my mom in law goes there to get her meat for specail occassions since it's a little pricier than your local supermarket of course. Let me know also!
Anyone been to Louis Lunch in New Haven?
Cheeseboy, Scotty100 andChefstu thanks for the tips!! At least between burgers and pizza I will not leave New Haven hungry!! Any of these places on the water by any chance?
Fleetwood News
My mom in law lives there so I am often around. I was told that the old A&P will be CVS...Like we need another one in the neighborhood. Also that the Brazilain place is supposed to be a supermarket. Who knows anymore! But I wanted to know if anyone has been to that Rib and Chicken place???
Anyone been to Louis Lunch in New Haven?
Thanks everyone! I wouldn't drive up there eat and leave..I would make a day out of it also and try the burger. But yes I am in the restaurant business and a big colonial history buff so seeing the old place and how they use the same machine would be worth it I guess... I would def visit different historic site and/or museums since I will be in that neck of the woods.... But I promise I will got try the pizza also. What makes the New Haven pizza different?
Anyone been to Louis Lunch in New Haven?
I know this is supposed to be the original place where hamburgers were invented. Now I know they are also very famous, food noetwork, historic place..etc.....But is it worth the drive from Westchester to go????
