Penelope's or Rare for 30th Birthday Dinner?
I've never been there, and in my search saw it a good bit so I might have to make a trip. But yeah, with the weather the way it's been, probably not the way to go.
Penelope's or Rare for 30th Birthday Dinner?
I was leaning toward Rare because of the rooftop bar. It doesn't have to be anywhere fancy--if I'm going for the great food I'd rather wait to go with my husband and really enjoy it than take a crowd--but it would be nice to have something fun, decent, and not expensive. Lazzara's was on my short list, but Rare seemed more summery.

Penelope's or Rare for 30th Birthday Dinner?
I'm looking for a place to have dinner before heading out for a night of karaoke (at 38th between 5th and 6th) Saturday night and am having a hard time. I think it'll be around 10 people or so; don't want anything too expensive but I am looking for something festive (30!) so cheap to moderate works. I'm just unfamiliar with the neighborhood for anything except Korean (which we're not doing because we just had a BBQ dinner there). Would Penelope or Rare better fit the bill? Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Where to buy cheese curds?
My husband and I just got back from a trip to Montreal and I've got a hankering for poutine. I tried searching the boards but didn't have any luck, so just wanted to ask, where should I buy cheese curds in Manhattan? Can I just get them at any cheese shop?
Cheap Eats near Theater District / Times Square?
Thanks for the awesome suggestions from everyone. We'll have to hit as many as we can!
Cheap Eats near Theater District / Times Square?
Nothing particular; it's just that we just had Mexican, so we're trying to switch it up.
Cheap Eats near Theater District / Times Square?
We're going to catch a show midweek on 42nd and are looking for some place cheap nearby to eat afterwards. We've already done our expensive meal for the week so I am talking about as cheap as it can get. I've searched the boards and found a lot of recs for nearby Mexican places, but I'm not to excited about Mexican right now. Some people recommended some nearby barbecue as well; any opinions?
We're aiming to spend ~$30 or so (less preferably), for two.
Thanks!
Dinner, drinks around midtown on a Friday night (tonight!)?
I'm meeting up with a group of friends (6 in total) tonight for drinks/dinner and then a movie. We wanted to stay more or less near midtown since we need to be at the Ziegfeld by 9, 9:30ish. I searched the boards but didn't find anythying. Anyone have any suggestions for a decent place for dinner and drinks? Or, a place for drinks and somewhere nearby for dinner? No dietary restrictions, just want it to be easy to get back to the Ziegfeld (54th between 6th and 7th). Ideas? Thanks!
