Kid-friendly dining in Hilton Head?
Thanks for the great suggestions! We're leaving tomorrow for 5 days of bliss on Disney's Hilton Head resort, can't wait! I'll try to report back on the kid-friendly eats...anyone else care to weigh in?
Kid-friendly dining in Hilton Head?
Hi Y'all,
I'm taking the missus and our three little girls (7, 5, and 20 months) to Hilton Head Disney the first week of October. The boards describe all these wonderful eateries but I wonder how kid-friendly the best ones are. Any advice for one man and his girls?
Need reccs - downtown Philly (but this time with young kids)
Update - thanks Hansel, we ended up at La Fourno, decent nice place, good service. The fettuccine and especially the veal parmigiana were very good, but I had the margharita pizza and the crust was too dry and flaky (I've had much better thin crust pizza). As for dessert, the tiramisu was too soft and sweet...
Need reccs - downtown Philly (but this time with young kids)
Hi Y'all,
I'm bring my girls (wife and 5 and 3 year olds) to Philly for a conference from Monday evening-Wed afternoon. We're staying in Penn's Landing but are willing to roam around downtown (walk or cab). I figure we'll have to do the Reading Terminal Market and I just learned that Tarte's bakery is near our hotel. Can you recommend any other good bakeries, coffeehouses, and places to have lunch/dinner that are relatively kid friendly (the girls are pretty well-behaved)?
Thanks!

HELP! I fly back to DC at 1pm tomorrow - where is best bakery downtown?
I ended up walking to Beard Papa's, haven't had them since 5 years earlier in Japan - they were good but the custard wasn't as thick and overall a bit sweeter than I recall. Then I cabbed it to the Ferry bldg, God I love that place. Had fish tacos at the fish market, all the while staring at the hot dogs people were buying across the hall at the niman ranch beef place. Grabbed a latte at the artisal coffee joint where they make each coffee individually (very good for a fair price)...and then grabbed a great arugula, cheeze, and jam sandwich from Acme, perfect for the flight home. Here I am at home in DC now, 1am, lusting to tear into this beautiful pain au levain (3 pounder baby) ...it's a bit late so I'll tide myself over by polishing off the cheese bread/roll that's slightly crispy on the outside but chewy soft on the inside.
Thanks for convincing me to go the Ferry building!!

Hmm, persuasive case for schlepping down to the Ferry bldg...if I'm really running short on time I'll follow DandySF's advices, otherwise Ferry it is. Thanks y'all!
HELP! I fly back to DC at 1pm tomorrow - where is best bakery downtown?
Thanks sumi, I love the Ferry but depending on how the mtg goes tomorrow I may not have time to go there. The concierge recommends Boudin (near Beard Papa's which I fell in love with in Japan in '04...umm)...thoughts?
HELP! I fly back to DC at 1pm tomorrow - where is best bakery downtown?
Please help! I'm staying in downtown SF at the Parc 55 Hotel (55 Cyril Magnin St), I've been stuck in meetings all day today and I fly out tomorrow back to DC at 1pm.
What are your suggestions for the best bakeries within walking distance? I'd love to nosh on some pastries and grab some good bread to take back home! Worst case, is there an Acme Bread outlet at SFO?
Thanks folks!

Good deals for maple syrup in Montreal?
wow, thanks for all your comments. I ended up buying a 6$ can (540ml) from 'Metro' supermarket in Quebec City...RE: why not Costco - the place offers good deals but if I'm on vacation and buying in relatively small quantities (i.e., less than a gallon), I'd much prefer buying from local outlets than a large corporation...As an aside, we stopped at Bergeron Fromagerie on the way to QC - damn good cheese for an amazing price...another aside for this captive audience ;) - Montreal (St. Viatur) bagels are heaven and I could eat them everyday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. NY bagels are so not comparable...

Ugh, Costco - you're right, I did say good deals but I couldn't live with myself for buying Costco in Quebec ;)
We're hitting JTM on Sunday so I'll definitely check it out. Any other ideas (perhaps in Quebec City where I'll be tomorrow?)...thanks again.
Good deals for maple syrup in Montreal?
I forgot to add that I'll be in Quebec City friday night to Saturday evening, so if there are better deals there I'm all ears!
Good deals for maple syrup in Montreal?
I'm in Montreal till Sunday and was wondering where I could find a good deal for maple syrup. I'm not inclined to buy from the touristy areas (20$ for 250ml ?!) so any suggestions would be much appreciated!
