This was our office favorite, and was mine for the past two years.. but as for the Corned Beef / other meats these days? Eh. The last ten times we've ordered, I've noticed the meats to be overly fatty, and practically inedible. I'm honestly not sure what happened, and why., but our entire office has noticably been ordering elsewhere these days. I'm shocked no one else has mentioned this.

Looking for Italian Restaurant With Caricatures on the wall near big dig zone?!

I could be offbase location-wise, but I know the Palm has a large amount of caricatures, and they consider their food partly Italian.

Stephanie's new venture in the South End

It has now been confirmed (via Boston Globe) that Stephanie's will open a second location in the old Garden of Eden spot. They will be serving a similar “sophisticated comfort food menu, but with a more refined and creative, international bent."

Hmm.. I certainly hope it's an improvement from their Newbury Street location.

more south end openings

Sorry- I meant to mention I peeked at the myspace page mentioned in the thread, and it seems like there is some connection between Night Town and Circle based on owners/chefs & the same exact address mentioned.

In the future, I may try to post when NOT working, as I keep getting caught (thus the discombobulated post.) :)

In Search of a great Reuben

I realize this isn't north of Boston, BUT the Reuben at Sam Lagrassa's in downtown Boston is to die for. It rivals the best I've ever had in NYC. A must try!

Stores Around Boston With Good Stonewall Kitchen Mustard Selection?

If I recall correctly, I've bought quite a few different varieties from Russo's in Watertown.

Favorite corn dishes around town?

The cornbread at Union Bar & Grille is so, so delicious! I could easily eat the entire pan of it.

Best Steamed Mussels (in Boston area?)

Thanks again for all of the great responses. I have recruited a friend of mine to (slowly but surely) try all of the places mentioned. A mussel-tasting adventure of sorts...!

Best Steamed Mussels (in Boston area?)

Thank you for the rec's thus far... my list has begun. And since I now live in the South End, I think I know my first destination(s)!

Best Steamed Mussels (in Boston area?)

Hi,

I am looking for recommendations for some delicious steamed Mussels (within Boston, or Cambridge.) I'm talking delicious broth, fresh, juicy, plump mussels. I'm not concerned with the price, venue, sauce-type, or cuisine-type. I've tried the usual suspects (primarily seafood restaurants) and haven't been impressed (although Taranta's are quite good.) I would love some suggestions, as I'm craving just a plain-old-delicious bowl of mussels!

Thanks in advance!

where are the deli's?

I've tried almost every deli in the metropolitan area, and my vote is for Barry's Village Deli in Waban.

ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO FIND CHOCOLATE ITALIAN ICE?

Just a thought: It seems relatively hard to find here, so why not make it yourself? Glancing at online recipes, it appears easy to do & would be such a sweet "homemade" gift!

Dok Bua, hands down.

duckfat fries

(If I recall correctly) Grill 23 had them as an accompaniment with their Ribeye Steak recently.

Oh, and Dante in Cambridge serves them with their Gnocchi dish.

If I recall correctly Dave's Fresh Pasta in Somerville sold Squid Ink angel hair pasta.

Oh, and Capone Foods in Somerville & Cambridge.

Financial District for work party/dinner- HELP!

I'm setting up a summer work party for ~75+ people. Has anyone had any positive experiences with restaurants in/very near the Financial District/ Waterfront? My prerequisites are that it is not in the North End, as Italian was done last year, it has the (private capacity) for at least a 75 person sit down dinner, and enough bar space for all of us to mingle. Food wise, it doesn't have to be "high-end" per se, but darn tasty food (not Asian though.) Since this is not "business" related (for once!), a nice atmosphere is a must! Any thoughts/suggestions would be great, as I'm running out of places we've had parties already!

Oh, and NO Vinalia ( had a meeting there, and I think the majority of us were gagging on our food.)

Thanks in advance!

Edit- I should have mentioned it doesn't have to be formal- my coworkers are formal at work, but LOVE their drinks outside of work!

New fun topic. What was the worst dish you've had and where

Easy one- Joe's American Bar & Grill (Back Bay.) I ordered an Omelette, a.k.a- oil with a splash of eggs. I saw at least two inches of oil as it was put in front of me. I made the mistake of cutting into it only to have oil literally splash all over the table. Needless to say, I clearly sent it back, and will never, ever return. Absolutely horrific & they charged me for it!

Best fun restaurant for $50

If Shabu is your cup of tea, I've eaten for WELL under $50 (including apps, drinks,etc..) at Kaze Shabu Shabu. Perfect for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. And fun? What's more fun than cooking your own food? Plus, it's just delicious!

Taranta Tomorrow Night

I'm a personal fan of both the Grilled Trout & Salmon dishes, as well as the Pan-Roasted Mussels appetizer. Both times I've tried pasta dishes, I've found them too salty (for my personal taste.)

Looking for meatloaf

I've never personally had it, but I was at Lucky's recently & noticed they have a homemade Meatloaf on their menu. Seems like it may fit the bill..?

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't realize that's the ONE day they're not open for Lunch!
