Help me convince my boyfriend we should move to Sunset Park...

We moved to Sunset Park almost 2 years ago (after 6 years in Park Slope). We moved because of all of the great food options (not to mention the cheaper rents). So far it's been great, although there are some things we miss about our old hood (specialty grocery stores, good wine store, bars, etc).
There is amazing Mexican food on 5th ave. Our go to spot for sit down or delivery is Tacos Matamoros. Everything is really good, plus they have great margaritas.
Another place opened across the street (can't remember the name). The menu is the same as Matamoros, but it's not as good. They do have a little bar you can sit at, so you can go have drinks if you want a more festive feel.
Other favs are Tacos Xochilmilco (excellent chile rellenos), Tacos el Bronco (tacos), and Puebla mini mart (tortas). On 8th Ave, we like Ba Xuyen (bahn mi and iced coffee), Mai Tai (for thai delivery), Metro cafe (chinese), Pacificana (dim sum), and Thanh Da (pho and other vietnamese dishes). That doesn't even begin to cover all the options.
Take a walk through the park- it has great views. Good luck!

Gluten Free lunch in DUMBO

Front Street Pizza has some gluten free options. Haven't tried them myself, but a former co-worker used to eat there often.

All about the homemade rolls for me. We've made the Lowell Inn crescent rolls for as long as I can remember.

Best Tacos in Sunset Park

Update: Tacos el Bronco have opened a restaurant on 4th Ave (at 43rd st). They're offering a full menu similar to Matamoros. Still the best tacos in Sunset Park.

Tacos Xochimilco (sunset park)

I love Xochimilco. I don't have to go far- it's at the end of my block! I think their tortas/cemitas are much better than Matamoros. I'm addicted to the Milanesa de Pollo Torta....

Best Tacos in Sunset Park

Tacos el Bronco. It's a truck on 5th ave (and 43rd).
Opens around 8-8:30 PM.
Excellent suadero and al pastor. I believe they have tripa too.

Would nutritional information on restaurant menus help you make healthier choices?

Yes, all of the time.
Here, in NYC, it's a law that restaurants (with 15 or more outlets) must post their calorie count. So it makes you think twice about eating those calories. I'll still eat that cheeseburger (550) from 5 guys- but now I'll skip the fries (600). And if I'm getting a coffee from Starbucks, I'll pass on that lemon cake (440) that I'm not even hungry for.

Moving to Sunset Park

I'm moving to Sunset Park this weekend (after many years in Park Slope) and need some recs for my new neighborhood. I go to Tacos Matamoros pretty often, but haven't explored much outside of there. I'm open to all cuisines.

Already on my list to try:
Ba Xuyen
Tacos el Bronco
Thanh Da II
Mai Thai
Pride of #8
Pacificana
Metro Cafe
Redang Island
Casa Vieja
Prosperity Dumpling
Yunnan Flavor Snack
Lanzhou Hand Pulled

Where else should I go? Thanks!

Fairway brooklyn- Olive oils- which do you recommend?

Olave extra virgin from Chile.
I love to use it for salad dressings- it has a nice fruity flavor.
Fairway has it for a good price. I think I paid $16 for a liter.

Dressler with kids?

I think Dressler would be a good place to go with kids. When you make a reservation, request one of the booths in the back. It will give you some extra space. I've been with kids before and everything was great. They were infants though- so no experience with special menu requests.

Thanksgiving in the hospital. Need turkey dinner take-out recs.

I read that thread and was optimistic about hospital food until I actually had to spend the evening there a couple of weeks ago. The food was bad, really bad. I couldn't believe how inedible rice could be.

Thanksgiving in the hospital. Need turkey dinner take-out recs.

I am being induced at NYU Langone Medical Center next week and am looking for take-out recommendations open on Thanksgiving. Here are my preferences:

*Traditional turkey dinner w/sides
*Within walking distance of hospital (1st Ave at E 32nd St)
*$100-$150 for 2 people

Right now I'm looking at the turkey platter at Sarges or 2nd Ave deli. Any opinions? Really just want to stay away from hospital food!

Thanks for your help.

Spaghetti al Limone - Supper Restaurant [Recipe request moved from Manhattan board]

I love pasta w/fresh lemon and make this recipe quite often (I even prefer it to Supper's version). It's from Patricia Wells Trattoria Cookbook.

Tagliarini with Lemon Sauce
Tagliarini al Limone

4 T (60 g) unsalted butter at room temperature
1 c (250 ml) heavy cream
1/4 c (60 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
Sea salt
1 pound (500 g) fresh tagliarini, tagliatelle or fettucine
Grated zest of 3 lemons
3 T fresh flat Italian parsley, snipped with scissors

Freshly grated Italian Parmesan-Reggiano cheese, for the table (optional)

1. In a skillet big enough to toss the cooked pasta later, combine butter, cream and lemon juice over low heat. Remove from heat when thoroughly combined.

2. In a large pot, bring 6 quarts (6 liters) to a rolling boil. Add 3 tablespoons salt and the pasta, stirring to keep pasta from sticking. Cook until tender. Drain, leaving a little water clinging to the pasta so the sauce will adhere.

3. Transfer pasta to the skillet, tossing to blend. Add the lemon zest and toss again. Cover and rest for 1 to 2 minutes to allow pasta to absorb sauce. Transfer to warm shallow bowls, sprinkle with parsley leaves, and serve immediately. Grated cheese optional.

Hip, moderate-priced places in Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, or Park Slope?

In Park Slope- I think the best options are Franny's or Al di La. Not as hip as Williamsburg (the ones you listed are some of my favorite too), but the food and atmosphere are great.
I like Sidecar for their drinks and atmosphere, but the food has been a little hit or miss for me.

If you end up at Marlow and Sons after dinner, then you have to have their dark chocolate/caramel tart w/sea salt. Delicious.
