Service issues?

It's the Big Easy not the Big Quickie. If you are relaxed and friendly the service is too.

Fretet Street (Portlandia?)

I don't think there are hipsters strictly analogous to Portlandia in NOLA. Locals would know better of course, but in my experience the NOLA hipsters are not quite as precious and tend to smoke and drink more. They are also almost entirely from away.

Open for Easter - Downtown Cleveland

Easter Sunday Jesus Christ will be the only thing risen in downtown Cleveland. There may be some dessicated ham on a hotel buffet somewhere.

Saturday night should see the usual downtown restaurants on East 4th open.

turkey day in NOLA - where to do

We thoroughly enjoyed the racetrack in the afternoon and had a wonderful meal at August. It was a heavenly Thanksgiving for us last year and I hope yours is equally as wonderful.

Cleveland good eats

Most of the new bars on West 25th serve cocktails. Greenhouse also has interesting cocktails on the menu.

Suggestions- 40th birthday dinner in Cleveland

I would look at Flying Fig and Lolita. You might also want to contact the Tremont Tap House because they have nice private room upstairs.

Danny's Deli

There is nothing at all near the Rock Hall. Literally. Unless you count sea gulls.

New Orleans in August (seeking advice)

We love to go in August. Yes the days are hot (drink water, use talcum powder, if you don't feel well go back to the hotel and take a cold shower and a nap). The nights are glorious. The air is like an embrace. The sounds and smells are magnified and you feel as though you could walk forever. Everything is lush and dark and sexy and a bit dangerous. Stay up late, sleep in, and enjoy.

Cleveland good eats

Flying Fig for a light lunch or happy hour in the West 25th area after a beer at Great Lakes. Strolling and drinking in Tremont should include Hotz's, Flying Monkey, Treehouse and dinner at Lolita. Downtown should include the Greenhouse but honestly Ontario Cafe across from the casino has great sandwiches and drink prices from the early '80's. We have a splendid array of dive bars (Hotz's is but one of many).

Weekend in Cleveland

Hit the Velvet Tango Room for drinks. For fancy dinner try Lola or Johnny's Downtown. For funky good food and drinks go to Greenhouse Tavern. For Saturday lunch head to the West Side Market and then to Great Lakes or Market Garden on 25th for beers and people watching. If you are heading to the east side for museums go up Mayfleld to Little Italy and restore with gelato, cannoli and cookies from Presti's or Corbo's. Dive bars to consider are the Harbor Inn, Hotz's, Parkview. Treehouse (not a dive) is good for attractive young people and a nice patio.

CLE Hounds -- asking for your Italian recs...

She might enjoy Chinato downtown in the East 4th area. If she's been away for some time she might be pleasantly surprised by the scene down there.

Downtown Cleveland suggestions please :-)

Greenhouse Tavern is your best bet for drinks and food both. Easy walk from the hotel.

I can't research any more--we are in town for a WEEK in March...HELP!

The board gives good advice but really don't over plan and let the city happen to you. It will almost always be good.

Ohio Vist, One Dinner, One Breakfast, Cleveland or Columbus?

I think you would like the Greenhouse Tavern in Cleveland for dinner. Funky cocktails, LED building, sultry hipster waitstaff, and very good food.

Thanksiving in NOLA

We were there for Thanksgiving last year and had a wonderful meal at August. I would add Victory to your bar list and the bar at the Roosevelt.

Attention Cleveland eaters: what are you go to spots for under $10?

Danny's Deli at St. Clair and 17th has a great corned beef hash and eggs breakfast. It's cheap and delicious. Happy hour at Lolita is a bargain and also the Flying Fig HH is a great deal. Souper Market has a soup and salad combo with bread for under ten that is delicious and healthy. I also like the Sloppy Dave at Dave's Cosmic Subs (local chain).
