Tuesday Mission Drinks/Snacks Around 9 PM?

how about the front porch, 29th and mission?

attention: noe valleyans! shop small.

i wanted to put out this call to all noe valleyans to support all of our great small produce, butcher, and wine purveyors throughout the holidays. i think whole foods has cut into the thin profit margins that already exist in these mom and pop shops.

i live very close to both church st. produce and drewe's bros. meats. and i have been supporting both for eleven years. and i would be sooo disheartened to see either go.

i know i might have to make two or even three stops to pick up everything i'll need for thanksgiving dinner. but with a little planning it will be well worth it. i think drewe's has gone up over the years in terms of the quality of their product and streamlining their holiday service. and if you make requests they can pretty much order whatever you like. and the produce shop is offering more organic veegies and have done a great job organizing their goods.

i have no affliation with drewe's or church st. produce other than considering them part of my family. i can't imagine not seeing jerry, big rick, and the gang. but i worry if the neighborhood doesn't give them the support i believe they deserve, they might not make it until next year.

happy holidays!

Next Iron Chef Episode 1 10/4 [And subsequent episodes] (spoilers)

i agree about the appleman moving bit. did you notice on his introduction they had the name of his new restaurant but he is still wearing an a16 apron. i bet he is pissed about that now. oh well. and how is making carbonara fearless? i'm surprised he didn't make meatballs out of the fallopian tubes.

and do you remember that cosentino made sabayon on the first episode last year? it was the same 'ew food' challenge. i find it funny just because they swam in the same very little pond for many years.

and what's up with the crap equipment?

Chef vs City -- A new low in programming?

ha! i can't wait to see it. is it possibly so bad it's good? or just plain bad. i'm surprised to hear them being so wasteful considering chris' whole using the whole animal schtick.

creole cajun recommendations

i love the front porch on 29th st. at mission

best sushi in the mission?

thanks for the suggestions. my husband and i ended up going to kiji on guererro. and oh my goodness it was so delicious. we had the sashimi sampler which was beautiful and a few different rolls. really sweet service, too.

best sushi in the mission?

love blowfish but I want to try something new.

Thanks.

first time visitor staying at crete and esplanade.

we are going on saturday and i am gonna eat my heart out. i was just looking on the website, and i didn't realize how many bands are playing. very exciting.

first time visitor staying at crete and esplanade.

hi, my husband and i are arriving on wednesday, from san francisco and i can't wait. we have no idea where to start.

we are definitely open to any style but would love to eat food that is representative of new orleans.

thanks in advance.

j.

p.s. does anyone know of any theaters where this american life live is playing thursday?

upper noe/upper haight- somewhere in betweeen

dinner with friends tonight, trying to find someplace equidistant. i want something a little more special than chow or home, although those are the only two places i can think of. thanks.

black bean cakes at limon rotisserie

do the bean cakes at the rotisserie have a special name? i wanted to look a recipe for them. they are so delicious. but i didn't know if i should just look up black bean cakes?

oaxacan mole in the mission

good traditional mole for lunch. it shouldn't be so hard to find.. any suggestions?

wing delivery/noe valley/outer mission/pregnant/stat

i meant i HAVEN'T tried all of these lately. oops

wing delivery/noe valley/outer mission/pregnant/stat

i'm looking for awesome traditional frank's hot sauce style wings. i've ordered from a few pizzerias with high hopes to no avail. marcello's, twin peaks and extreme pizza all bake their wings, and are not satisfying my craving.. and the wing place on valencia has the smallest bony wings i've ever seen they give me the heebie geebies just thinking about them. now i have just tried all of these lately. my fetus is in good health. i've been looking for a good wing for awhile. i guess now that i'm pregnant i don't mind asking for a little help in my search. thanks in advance.

after--noon alemany market?

i don't get out of work until after 2 PM on saturday. is it still worth it to go to the market. i'm accustomed to going very early. thanks for the help.

Gelatos at La Ciccia

the same guy does sorbet for the front porch. if i remember correctly the flavors are: grapefruit/tarragon, meyer lemon with chili on top, and blood orange, i think. it's areally nice light way to finish a most likely rich dinner.

cheap eats between mission and haight

meeting a group of 5 friend tonight, some live in outer mission, others upper haight. i was hoping to find a place equidistant in fairness to all parties. open to all cuisines, but i'm kinda in the mood for noodles. thanks in advance.

Paula Deen Dessert Sandwich

my favorite restaurant in sf, the front porch, used to have a fried chocolate/brioche sandwich with ice cream. trust me it was amazing!

4 chicks staying in noe valley seek houndworthy recs.

I think for 4 fun girls I would check out the front porch on 29th and mission. it's a fun hole in the wall carribean restaurant. it does get crowded on the weekend but lots of fun nonetheless.

help w/ tiny, rad restaurants in sf proper?

just to let you know country station closed unfortunately, very sad. but if you want to stay in the mission, i love the front porch. kinda carribean with a rock and roll flare. the wait can be long but go early and enjoy the rocking chairs on the porch.

Marta's Kitchen in the Jay n' Bee Club

love love love their refried beans

Cask-conditioned ales in Berkeley or Bay area?

the front porch usually has one on thap, too. from speakesy i think

Gator's Neo Soul Cafe & Draegers, San Mateo report w/ pics

my husband and i made the trek down there to check out gator's it was awesome. we were big fans of alcatraces so i kinda knew i would like it. the menu does sound super rich, but we got to speak with gator momentarily, which i believe he does with almost every table(who does that?) and because of some his own heath concerns he has modified his recipes to be more health conscience. i don't think anything is even fried there. for what it's worth i think it is a great spot.

Funky,Strange, Cheap, out-of-the way

the front porch in the outer mission. carribean food, converted garage.

Delicious Mystery at The Front Porch!

i have to say i love the front porch. the menu has changed a bit since they opened, i think the chef has really come into to her own--more carribean influenced. and kevin, one of the hosts, i think is dreamy.

Hell's Kitchen!!

does anyone know of marco pierre white's involvement with the show? maybe just the bbc version?

La Ciccia tonight

robert, i'm shocked you haven't seen the cured tuna heart on incanto's menu.

downtown lunch on the cheap?

hubby and i will be DT friday, any recs for upcale restaurants that have decent lunch prices? perbacco or aqua, maybe? thanks.
