The Prince has a couple of amazing dishes. The Korean fried chicken is good as is the super spicy fried chicken.

Public House on Melrose?

The sign says Public House, but The Village Idiot just the nickname of the joint? Anybody try it out yet? It looked packed on Saturday night when I drove by.

La Cabanita - Montrose - What to get?

I went for my first time last week. My girl andI got the Relleno Trio, which is a sampler of all of their Rellenos. That was an amazing dish. The Chuletas de Pasilla was quite amazing as well. Great tender pork chops with a lovely sauce with good depth, spice (could have been hotter for me) and very savory (it was salty but the crema on top balanced it out).......I was quite impressed with La Cabanita, it is second only to La Superica in my book, but probably equal because of the full service nature and the margs. Can't wait to go back!

mexican - west hollywood area

El Compadre is a fun place, however, other than the chips and salsa and a few dishes the food is just average. Still good atmosphere and drinks, thus I'll go there every now and then. I'll simply order carefully.

Paradise Cove Beach Cafe???

I find it to be a nice place to take out of town guests who want to sit on a beautiful beach and drink and eat. Especially ones who are coming in from a cold winter climate. The food isn't incredible, but it's not awful, and despite the price the portions are absolutely huge.....My visitors have always loved going there and killing a few hours in a relaxing and beautiful setting.

Camden House

Sounds great, but I'm from Philadelphia and fine dining from a place called Camden House sounds like an oxymoron.

Lucky Devils

I'm a big fan as well. However I've been there 5 times and I've only had the burgers, fries, and side salad. I tried my GF's fries and they were good as well, not earth shattering but very good. I have to say the I usually don't eat fries or shakes with my burgers, so I order the salad that comes with it. They have about 5 dressings and I have tried 3 of them and they are all homemade, creative and really tasty. I'm a self proclaimed salad dressing snob. I heard the desserts are really good but I've never tried them. Great draught beer and a solid wine list are a plus.

the burrito problem

Yes, Tere's chicken burrito is pretty damn good..

So if i'm lead to believe that SF burrito joints have a greater variety of fillings they specialize in more creative gringo burritos. From my trip to Mexico, LA burritos are pretty damn close to the burritos served in the Baja (other than the seafood places). Simple meat, rice, beans, onions, and cilantro. Sometimes there is guac and sometimes there is cheese, sometimes crema, but they must be requested. There is almost never mushrooms, veggie filling, roasted peppers, black beans, etc. etc....Thus LA specializes in more authentic mexican style burritos while SF has injected a little creativity with it's mexican flavors. Both styles of burritos have a place in my palate. From my background I'm a burrito purist, but I used to live in Atlanta and really miss what me and my buddies called "Stoner Burrito" joints. Totally gringo, but fresh, tasty, and plentiful.....It's totally subjective....

$200 (on my boss!!) tonight!

Matsuhisa would be my selection $200 should cover almost the entire bill, but if you're like me you might spend about $300 for 2 people including drinks and tip.

Black Rice @ The Hungry Cat

OMG! It's so awesome. It's usually served with fish and a green curry/chili sauce. Unfortunately it's not on the menu right now, I just thought about it from a few months back. It tastes like it's cooked with pork fat, but it's not. Any thoughts on what gives it such a smoky roasted meat flavor while being vegetarian?

Loteria grill beef question

Loteria's black bean are really awesome as well. I can make some great black beans but I always use a little ham hock, their's are vegetarian and also have an ingredient that I can't put my finger on.
