Humane, sustainable charcuterie?
I've had some of their weirder meats - quite fond of alligator. IIRC most/all of these critters are farmed, not wild; those lions come from a farm in the midwest, not the savanna.
Good bar, cheap apps? - Colonial Theater
Many of the Banh Mi places tend to run out of rolls in the mid afternoon.
Where should I bring college girls on dates?
I used to live in Eastie, and I miss having great cheap places like Angela's, Rino's, etc. but I sure don't miss being out in no-man's land. I'm reserving those places for later dates where I'm less concerned with setting a mood and more concerned with eating delicious food.
Where should I bring college girls on dates?
I know how to cook! But between going back to school (which is why I'm after college girls) and working full time I've let that skill atrophy. For example, I ate a salted carrot for dinner a few nights back.
Anyways, I'm not quite that ballsy, though the reason I'm sticking to the red line and cambridge/somerville is because that will allow expedient return to my apartment, should the need arise. The plan is to take them out to dinner, cook breakfast at home.
Where should I bring college girls on dates?
I do like Myers + Chang - definitely a go-to spot if I'm in the south end. That's exactly the kind of vibe I'm going for, actually; what in Cambridge would be similar?
Where should I bring college girls on dates?
I've been going on a lot of dates with college girls lately, but most of my favorite bars are inappropriate places to bring a 19-year old. (I'm 24. Yes, I know I'm a creep.) There are a thousand restaurants I could be bringing these girls, but I always blank on it when the time comes.
I need some places that are:
1)Relatively cheap
2)Not impossible to get a table on a fri or sat
3)Casual but not too-casual (eg. not Anna's Taqueria)
4)On the Red Line
5)Veggie friendly (but for my sake Carnivore friendly, ideally)
I know that this doesn't really narrow things down, but it's good to have a lot of options for whichever neighborhood one ends up in.
Is all the Pepsi Throwback gone?
I saw some at the target on the somerville/cambridge line the other day.
I'd love to get diet pepsi throwback with saccharine.
Local flavor, real deal, one hit wonders, down scale, no reservations, hole-in-the-wall in Boston area…
Green Street is pretty far from downscale; half of the entrees are over $20.
Lobster Thermidor and Plum Pudding - which restaurant has either?
I had it once as a special at the summer shack. also:

Where can I find Passoa?
Weirdly enough, I've seen it (many months ago) at the big kappy's in east boston by the airport stop. They also had the Trader Vic's brand passion fruit liqueur, too.
Favorite Places to Share a Meal at the Bar in/around Boston
I tend to get dinner with my drinks, as opposed to the other way 'round, so I get food at the bar rather often. I really like Green Street for this - the bartenders are uniformly excellent and the food is quite tasty, if a little on the pricey side.
The dearth of food carts and trucks in Boston
Clover is pretty good, but like many veg places, too much of the menu is artificial meat substitute instead of good ol' tasty vegetables.
Coming from Barbara Lynch - Menton
I'd think that when you get into the hundreds of dollars range, the neighborhood becomes less of an issue - the restaurant IS the destination. I doubt there would be any neighborhood where people would regularly pop in for a quick bite at a three-star priced restaurant 'cause they "don't feel like cooking tonight."
Todd English opening Beacon Hill Cupcake Shop in early 2010
So he'll be opening up a tart frozen yogurt shop next year, right?
Drink: A Plea to Barbara Lynch
Gravedigging, but -
has this situation changed since feb? The last time I was here was early october and I didn't even see the food list. The mixologists don't push it, so maybe they know its a problem.
Also, re Southern Comfort: mock it all you will, but David Embury refers to it as like the nectar of the gods - if he's not old-school enough for you, I don't know what is.
Coming from Barbara Lynch - Menton
Actually, starting this at the nadir of a recession makes a certain amount of sense, in the way that "things can only get better?"
Where to find a great steak for a decent price in the city??
How about Jimmy's Steer House, in Arlington? Its kind of out of the way (but on a local bus route) and the crowd runs towards geriatric, but it's definitely going to be a better value than anywhere downtown.
Taza Chocolates Factory Tour w/Tastes!
Bumping this thread - there was another tour/tasting today. Anyone go?
I picked up a few bricks of the flavored mexican style for my mother, who is just as food obsessed as her son. Recommendations for a (modestly priced) wine to pair with those?
Best Inauthenic, Americanized Chinese?
Do any of these do the decor? How are the drinks?
Best Inauthenic, Americanized Chinese?
I live down the street from Wang's, so I've been getting a lot from them, but mostly the "sea cucumber and tripe" kind of stuff. Their not so good for dining in, but I guess I could order from them and do the tiki drinks and volcano stuff at home.
Best Inauthenic, Americanized Chinese?
How does the food at Tiki Island compare to Kowloon? I've heard its better, but is it so much better that it makes up for the lack of decor?
Best Inauthenic, Americanized Chinese?
I've heard that the food is pretty bad at kowloon, but the decor looks amazing. Is there anything out there that's even close to that level of ridiculousness?
Davis Square Suggestions
A lot of Diesel's pastries are bought in, and many of them employ vegan substitutes. I do like their sandwiches quite a bit, though. Also, this is where I discovered the joys of the vietnamese coffee.
I don't think you can mention Diesel without at least a nod to their (rival? sister restaurant?) up the street in Ball Square, True Grounds. I like a lot of the sandwiches and wraps at True Grounds, though every time ive gotten a drink there, all the syrup/sugar/condensed milk ends up at the bottom.
Best Inauthenic, Americanized Chinese?
I know where to find tasty, authentic regional Chinese with rich in spices and variety meats. However, I don't see a lot of discussion on where to find the best General Tso's chicken or crab Rangoon.
Ideally, this would be a polynesian-themed restaurant with a waterfall and drinks in tiki heads, but I don't know how many of those exist nowadays, so food is a priority over decor.
Where to get Teppanyaki in Boston?
if youre gonna go all the way out to marshfield, I'd suggest aoyama over hanabi. they've got a little more clarity of purpose -- ie. they specialize in teppanyaki -- and most of the chefs have great rapport with their audiences, especially with kids.
Looking for a dressy but affordable restaurant in Boston
Temple Bar must have gotten a little pricier since you were last there; most of the mains run over $20 now, e.g. a $25 steak frites, though they have pizzas, sandwiches, and giant salads for about $12.
Lord Hobo
The $13 burger is pushing it, but my DCs loved it. The $13 ham sandwich, though...
affordable north end, or go to other neighborhood?
rino's had really great food and a warm neighborhood vibe. jevellis had a kind of unfortunate "time capsule" feel to it with a white house-themed dining room and iceberg lettuce on the leaf-pattern plate salad. also, if youre in that neck of the woods, consider carmen's kitchen at orient heights.
The best and worst of Brookline?
I've been working in coolidge corner for about four years now, and i tend to get a lot of lunches at paris creperie. it's not amazing, but theyve got a number of pretty tasty crepes on the menu, and theyre less likely to hustle you out of there than michaels deli.
also, ive got to say that although mr. sushi isnt spectacular, its a lot cheaper than fugakyu or tsunami.
