CarolinaGirl06, I'm glad you understand! I have bought the queso blanco from a Hispanic grocery store, and made it myself, and it was pretty darn good, but DJD is right, there's nothing like a late night restaurant trip for queso (plus a big pitcher of margaritas!). Thanks to Madrid for the EC Grill tip. You're right, it's not perfect, but I'd be interested to see what farmer's cheese queso tastes like anyways. I guess for now I'll stick with the delicious margaritas and chips at Border Cafe, even if the star isn't there. |

I'm looking for the best simple queso in town. I've tried Border Cafe,Cactus Club, and Fajitas and Ritas but they're too orange, cheddar-y tasting with too many peppers, etc in them. I'm looking for queso in the queso blanco style, just straight up delicious - emphasis on the mild cheese flavor, not the peppers, tasso, or beef. Any ideas? At this point I'll try anything, even a place with not-so-great chips. Thanks chowfolks! |
