Calgary, Banff, the badlands, Lake Louise after mid June - your advice is needed
In Drumheller, you need to check out Bernie and the Boys Bistro. giant amazing burgers, many many flavors of milkshake, and if you can get 4 people together, they'll make you an omelet from an ostriche egg. Also Drumheller is the only place I'l buy beef jerky. Its called riverside packers, and its on the road to rosedale on the west side of the highway.. its well worth the price for a bag!
Calgary-Dinosaur Provincial Park-Kananaskis: Grocery Stops
Are you planning to stay somewhere on the way? and when is the trip? Dinosaur park is pretty deserted in the winter..
Calgary-Dinosaur Provincial Park-Kananaskis: Grocery Stops
Hi there.. When heading to dinosaur provincial park, I am asuming you mean north of brooks alberta, and not to the tyrell museum of paleontology in Drumheller. They are two hours away from each other at the least. However you will drive right through Strathmore on your way to them both. Strathmore has numerous grocery stores on the main street through town. Once you are at the park there is very little, brooks would be the closest town. brooks has really really good chinese food at a place called oriental garden. its behind the canadian tire. It also has a 24 hour sobeys.
On the way back. strathmore will work again.. You should be fine. cheers..
Rocky Mountain House?
Theres a restaurant called grillers. ITs on the east side of the main highway almost accross from the Mcdonalds.. best bet for sure.. also good chinese food in the strip mall beside it with the dairy queen.. Ive been told the burger baron has a great burger, but have no proof.. Good luck!
lunch YYC Sunday, south
I would suggest better options north on mcleod trail up by Chinook center. There is Bagolac, siagon across from Long and Mcquade, and a few others.. Bolsa, was never a favorite of mine..
Chinese in Red Deer?
I havn't tried Red Star yet either, I always get distracted by the sushi, but I have lived in Red deer for 10 years, and still have not found good chinese. SO I gave up. ESpecially with such tasty vietnamese, thai, and indian offerings, who needs it? Pho tho duong, Noodle house, BLue dragon, Phili thai, and the 49th street Tandoori grill are all tasty. Add to to that, Las Palmeras, for mexican, Its all greek to me, and a Donair from King Donair down town, and I really don't miss it. If you want good chinese food, go to Brooks, no joke..
Edmonton Restaurant for Out of Town Guests
How about to Dadeo's on White Ave for a Poh boy and some gumbo? The sweet potato fries are amazing, and the atmosphere is alot of fun...
Looking for Amazing Eats on the Westcoast
I've only ever been to smoking bones in Abbotsford once, and it was amazing, more meat than I knew what to do with, and the flavors were great. Also the do local beers there and I think the raspberry beer was like drinking pure fruit, only beer.. hard to explain, but definately worth the trip..
Calgary, Winnipeg and in between
On your way from Calgary towards Medicine Hat, you will pass the town of Brooks. Actually its a city now, but a small one. Its about two hours from Calgary so hopefully you will be there around lunch time.. It was two really amazing options.. The first is a place Called Oriental Garden, honestly? its the best Chinese food I have ever had. Its canadianized, but seriously, the chow mein, giner beef, and lemon chicken don't get any better than there. Take the first over pass exit, then through 4 sets of lights till you get to Cassils road. Turn right, then make your first right by the Canadian tire, and its half a block down on your right hand side beside a car wash.. pink building. The owners name is lily. You will not be disapointed...
The other option is Sams.. super tasty Vietnamese food and its cheap.. same directions onto cassils road, but go past the canadian tire, the safeway and its in the first strip mall on your right. hole in the wall, but very good. Also he runs a full oriental grocery store, but its back by the Canadian tire on the corner.. Many tasty options.. Cheers..
Dim Sum in Calgary
On Center Street and 24th Ave in a strip mall across from a temple is a little hole in the wall called Fortunes Foods.. All day every day dimsum, closed on tuesdays though.. cheap. fresh, and tasty. Everything is made in the back, and its all available to take home frozen as well. Close to downtown and so good.. Though lately the owner lady has been a little grumpy. Worth the drive from Red deer still, everytime I go.. Cheers.
Spot for Engagement on Vancouver Island
Take her up to the sooke potholes and go swimming. its relazing, tranquil, and so beautiful.. on your way back to sooke there is a cute little dinner that makes some tasty halibut.. no clue on what its called though. but great food.. the potholes is a one of a kind place...
Lunch in Victoria - need recommendations
Smokin Bones.. not quite in victoria, but close.. the Barbecue is stunning...
New Earl's - South Common Edmonton
Went to the earls in Red Deer last weekend. I had the most amazing sandwich. It was chicken and brie on a whole wheat ciabatta bun. There were slices of apple on it as well, and the whole thing was baked. IT was stunning. ridiculously good, and I wanted another one right after. The salad it came with had lots of cranberries and sesame seeds as well and was very tasty.. for 11 bucks, I think I did pretty good.
My other favorites on the menu are the california pizza, and the dynamity shrimp rolls, but they have really gone downhill and are cold ans usually soggy.. but that pizza is darn good.
dim sum chili sauce
do you mean siracha? clear bottle... green top,, rooster on the bottle, super tasty?

Visiting Calgary from Toronto
Fortune foods.. tiny hole in the wall dim sum restaurant on center street and 24th avenue north. its on the right, in a strip mall. accross from a temple.. All day every day dimsum and chinese baking. the Shu mai is very tasty, as is the sticky rice, and dumplings.. so good. fast.. and cheap.
A good donut? I actually like the ones at safeway. they have a nicer texture than the timmy's.
Looking for a good North American Dinner Buffet
The Grey Eagle casino west on glenmore, does a really nice North american buffet, complete with large chocolate fountain. Not sure if you can take kids in there though. but it is tasty...
Where can I find the best donairs chicken or beef in AB?
Red Deer... Kind Donair on Ross Street, right downtown accross from the Royal bank. They are cheap, massive, and he makes three sauces, a tzaziki, a sweet, and a garlic, also his own hummus. He sells baklava, and other treats too. Chicken shawarma, as well as beef donair.. my favorite..
Kitchen gadgets in Calgary
If you want to make a short roadtrip, head to downtown cochrane. Just a block east of the icecream shop there is a great Kitchen store, Plus alot of other cool stores on the street carrying knicknacks, antiques, and such.
If you are anywhere near red deer, head to ross street downtown. There, you will find a store called Sunworks. its awesome. anything from hotsauce, to woks, and garden fixtures. a nice change from the big box stores..
cheers.
Calgary--do I have a challenge for you!
no ones mentioned it, and it might be pure evil, and kind of bland, but cheasecake cafe is right there in sunridge by the mall. It should cover all of your requirements foodwise.. and they used to have something called cheesequake, get it with strawberries. so good.
Best breakfast joints in Western Canada
If you are coming to red deer, Check out hubies. Its a 50s diner in a little strip mall in westpark. jukeboxes on the wall, lots of elvis paraphenalia, tasty omelettes, and massive pancakes. also friday is free extra patty on your burger day, and all the fries you can eat.. And the milkshake comes in the metal container. I miss that..
Regency or Silver Dragon for Dim Sum in Clg
Fortune foods. center street and 24th ave.. its a whole in the wall, nothing fancy. but super tasty and cheap.. no carts. but dimsum all day everyday except tuesday.. its my favorite..

hole in the wall - calgary
pretty much.. the menu is double sided, so there are some soups and a few chow meins and such. but mostly just really good dim sum..
hole in the wall - calgary
my favorite hole in the wall in calgary is a little all day dim sum restaurant up center street around 22nd avenue.. its directly accross from a temple of some sort in a little strip mall with an insurance place in it.. The woman that owns it makes it all herself, and its awesome. Who wouldn't like shue mai any day of the week. Also they have most of it available frozen so you can take it home and keep it in your freezer.. 5 tables.. and just really good food..
Fresh Seafood available in Red Deer????
Yes there is.. Fishermans Pride seafood on the corner of Taylor drive and 54th Ave. Its in the big red Brick building by the hospital. Great seafood, reasonable prices and they can fly lobsters in if you require large quantities.. Also try superstore...
