Where's the best margarita in SD?

I like Ortgega's happy hour on University across from Fiesta Cantina (Uni and 2nd, I think), avoid Fiesta's Margs though. Ortega's is def mixed clientele (not all gay) with great street tacos on their HH menu as well.

Cheap eats in San Diego

around the beaches I'd recommend the fresh fish plate at Cass St Bar In Pacific Beach, and fish tacos at South Beach in Ocean Beach, Sushi Deli for sushi downtown (hugely popular but not the best quality). For Mexican I would say Ortega's in OB, and Pokez DT.
All these places have an affordable menu with pretty good food.
For decent Korean I think you'll have to venture away from DT and the beaches. Most of the good Korean is in Clairmont and Kearny Mesas.

Frankie the Bull BBQ

When I heard a BBQ place was opening off Morena, about 2 miles from Phil's BBQ, I was thinking this place must be really good or they didn't do their homework. Then I hear it was the project of Frank Terzoli from Top Chef Season 2 and previously Executive Chef at Delicias in Rancho Santa Fe. I love BBQ so I was pretty excited to try it.
So tonight I finally had my chance to see if my dear Phil's had any competition in town. The place was pretty crowded. I ordered a 1/4 slab of pork ribs with 2 sides, I chose cajun fries and BBQ beans and a coke. I thought the atmosphere was ok, except I thought the cowboy hats the staff was wearing were a bit corny and I would have liked some kind of background music.
Apparently there was something wrong with the coke, so I was offered something else and I chose lemonade, which was like water with a lemon.
My food came out pretty fast. The ribs were very tender, almost too tender, even mushy. I thought they were fatty, but had a very nice smoky flavor. The cajun fries were limp but were decent. I think they were flavored with maybe garlic and oregano? The cheddar jalepeno cornbread was average, a very similar recipe as Cook's Illustrated offers. The BBQ beans came with chunks of pork and the pork was the best part of this side. I thought the beans had an overwhelming flavor of cumin, and I couldn't finish them. forgettable at best.
I live close to this place, but until I hear that things have greatly improved I won't go back.

Is Stingaree Nightclub and Universal Nightclub Going out of Business?

ENDEV no longer exists, Bar West and Universal have been sold off to new owners. I think a few of the partners of ENDEV still own Stingeree, The Witherby, and Ciro's. They all seem to be doing pretty well. Ciro's is closed for renovations. Top of the Cove ? Who knows?
I am by no means an authority on this, just what I've heard

Best Dish In San Diego?

I can't pick just one!
uni at Sushi Ota, Chicken and dumplings at Urban Solace, and tacos adobada at El Gordos. I do love that seared ahi at bluewater too!

Any REAL Italian food in San Diego?

I highly recommend Arrivederci in Hillcrest (on 4th I think). It sounds like what you may be looking for. Also, on the same topic I saw that another location is opening up on 30th street near University in North Park

Also disappointed in The Linkery

I recently visited The Linkery for a Saturday lunch. We ordered the cheeseburger and the reuben off of the limited lunch menu and split them both. While we waited for our food we each had a beer. One was the cask conditioned ale and the other was the Belgian white style, both delicious. We were starving and eager when our food arrived, especially to try the hyped reuben! The burger was far from the best I've had, and actually was just kinda alright. It seemed dry and the bun wasn't very good. the reuben on the other hand, was amazing and I'm not a fan of the classic sandwich. Perfect sauerkraut. We each ordered another beer to help wash it all down.
The service was awesome, very attentive and passionate and even warned us when we ordered a $13 beer (we changed our minds).
With all of that said, I cannot justify going back. Our bill came to $70 and I just don't think the value is there. I appreciate the idea, but even of the bill was $40 I don't think it was memorable. Unfortunately, our meal was memorable for the wrong reason, $70 for 4 beers and 2 sandwiches

SD coming to NYC! (moved from Manhattan)

thanks for the advice! I'll be at Riverside Park looking for breakfast and a late lunch on a saturday. I see what you mean about the Good Fork not being ethnic, but if Moroccan and Indian aren't ethnic what is? I like persian/afghan, Indian, specifically punjabi. I'm looking for an intimate setting with traditional music and decor, and traditional food that makes the night perfect, I had an experience like this in Philly off South St at Marrakesh (which has received mixed reviews here) I figure New York must have something similar, but not necessarily Moroccan.

Thanks RGR. And thanks for moving my post to the appropriate place. Sorry, I'm a noob. I'll definitely check out your link!

Sandwiches in SD

Try the cheesesteak or chicken cheesesteak at the Gourmet Bagger in Sportsarena. Very close to SeaWorld. the deli at Mona Lisa's in Little Italy is also awesome. i like the Caprese with imported prosciutto added. EZ J's in Pb is really good. Try the Malibu. Poma's in OB, the meatball sub or turkey sub.
Good luck in the marathon, I'll be doing it also!

SD coming to NYC! (moved from Manhattan)

Hey guys coming to NYC in mid June and I could use your expertise. I will be staying in Brooklyn for about a week. here's what i know so far.
Thurs- day game at Yankee Stadium. Looking for a Veal Parm or Meatball hero in the Bronx at a neighborhood standard. After the game we will probably be looking for a bar/pub on the way to our ultimate destination (Brooklyn). Might hit DiFarro's for a late night slice if that is possible. Is it open late and does it serve by the slice?
Fri- Looking for a great bakery in the Brklyn Hts area for breakfast. Prolly pack a lunch for the day, so any creative ideas are welcome, and looking for a nice dinner for around $50 (not including tax, tip, alcohol). Location could be anywhere, but bonus points for being near a cool bar that isn't impossible to get a drink/move on a Friday night. Saturday we'll be doing the Great Urban Race on the upper west side, looking for lunch for less than $20 each. I'd love an ethnic meal Sat night for dinner, possibly Morrocan, Indian, or maybe that dumpling place that Bobby Flay had a throw down at in Brooklyn ($50-70 per person).
Sunday, running a 5 mile race in Central Park then we're gonna try mass at St. Pat's I would like to try and keep it cheap and simple for lunch because Sunday night I'd like to have a special meal at Yasuda with omakase (budgeting $100 each+tip). Although I haven't yet made my reservation for 2. If I cant sit at the bar in front of Yasuda, I will choose a time when I can. Monday, no plans whatsoever. Finally a late night place near MSG for Tuesday night's Pearl Jam show. I would love random advice if you get a feeling of who I am and what I might like from my post.
Thanks so much for your time in advance, and please feel free to PM me for personal attention if you come to San Diego.

SAN DIEGO- Where's the BEST Carne Asada Burrito?
