Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese Just wondering, is this the Cooking Light recipe that you used? Thanks! |

Well, I tried signing up for the email list at Elephant & Castle, but there was no spot to enter my birth month or anything... could it be that they've stopped with the birthday promo? |
Cannoli Contest and some advice teezeetoo, would you mind sharing your ricotta filling recipe in the Home Cooking board? |

Happy Birthday ScotchandSirloin! |

Minado used to offer the birthday person (with proof via license) a free future meal when they came with a rather sizeable party. Bugaboo Creek (RIP to the Watertown location, loved their Prime Rib) would send out a moose head puppet and a free dessert for a birthday celebration. If you're on the email list or a member of their card club, you will receive a coupon for a free dessert at Finale Desserterie & Bakery, a free small sundae at JP Licks, a free meal at Not Your Average Joe's. At the Texas Roadhouse they bring over a saddle for the birthday person to sit on and sing to them. Salts in Cambridge will decorate your table and garnish your purchased dessert if you let them know ahead of time that you're celebrating. What other spots will do something special for a birthday? And do you need to go the actual day, or just be out celebrating, or sign up ahead of time? Thanks! |

ISO pure almond extract... at a good price You're right, maybe it was 8 oz in 3-4 years... but it only cost $9.99 back then, and I love baked goods and sweets with almond extract in it. Thanks for the info on Penzey's! Any other odd ball location for a great extract deal? |

ISO pure almond extract... at a good price So, normally I buy McCormick's pure almond extract at the regular supermarket. But a few years back, I was able to buy a 16 oz bottle of another brand at my local Marshall's. I'm now down to my last teaspoon or so, and was wondering if there was another place I should check out for pure almond extract at a good price since I haven't spotted extract at either TJ Maxx nor Marshall's in recent months. Thanks! |

Best Restaurants that Zagat has completely missed. All those are still MIA. I noticed that they missed a several restaurants in Chinatown such as The Best Little Restaurant. |

anyone have a from scratch recipe for Chinese almond tea/soup dessert ("hung yun tsa" in Cantonese)? Hi little.tiger! Any luck searching for the almond soup dessert? I remember being served some hot from a soup tureen when I was young, with ice cubes floating in it to cool it down. =) |

Nice to know that the Clover truck I spotted on my commute in was not a mirage. =) |

where to get crispy duck with taro in Chinatown? I'm pretty sure that I've had this at Asian Garden in Chinatown before. ----- |

What to eat at King's Richard's Faire? Thanks for your replies and helping me to set my expectations. We're headed there tomorrow and spending the whole day there, so I will have to find something for lunch there though. |

What to eat at King's Richard's Faire? King's Richard's Faire is opening for a new season this weekend, and I'll be headed out to Carver, MA for my first ever visit. Any suggestions on what foods I should try (or avoid!) there? I already know about the turkey legs. Thank you! |

Where did this restaurant supply store move to? The one that was on the corner of Harrison & Beach closed. |

Grotto's holding another Big Night this Thursday! Anyone else going? I am so looking forward to it now that I've finally watched the movie! |

I get the Craigie emails, but I didn't get anything special for my birthday... when you sign up for their emails, they only seem to ask for your email, name, and zipcode. Where does the birthday come into play? Thanks! |
I went, I'm home, and I survived! So much food, leisurely served before, during, and after the movie. This was their third such event, and the crowd was less rowdy than the preceding ones according to the owner chef. They did an impressive walk around with the timpano, then later with the huge whole fish and a couple of roasted chicken. What? No whole pig? Would have been neat, but honestly I had no room for it in my tummy. |

Who serves HK style breakfast? I'm pretty sure Asian Garden serves something like that during the earlier part of the day. |
It is new, and seems to be the first local branch of a chain... have you tried it yet? |

I'd love it if you would share your recipes for pastitsio, stuffed vegetables, moussaka, and galactoboureko. By any chance do you also serve slices of fried zuchinni and eggplant? I enjoyed that appetizer in a Greek restaurant before. |

Thanks veggielover! Lineage left us a really good impression through our RW visit. The shrimp appetizer was tasty and plentiful. Both steak and salmon were well prepared. Both desserts yummy and not too sweet. Oh and great bread! |
Back by popular demand! The first one in 2010 was held in March - March 10th to be precise. Did anyone attend who would be willing to share their experience? Thanks!! ----- |

Anyone going to Lineage for RW? (I hope, I hope) Thanks! |

Celery root soup with smoked button mushrooms and sage - did not taste like celery at all, nice and creamy Veal terrine with thyme and pickled vegetables - a bit tough to eat as the terrine tended to fall apart as I cut it to place on the toast points, but it was tasty with the pickled vegetables. Tuscan-style fish stew with tomatoes and tarragon - not the most filling entree; bit of salmon with some shellfish; no shrimp here, tasty broth though and loved the toast slice dunked in the broth Red wine braised beef with a fruit mostarda - tender enough, tasty Spice poached pear with a lavender caramel sauce and mascarpone - loved this! You can totally eat this with a spoon. Chocolate budino with fernet marinated strawberries - basically a flourless cake, I think, but on the lighter end of things. Nice. |

It may have been off topic, but it is appreciated! |

Thanks y2000k for the review! I was starting to worry that I'd have absolutely no idea of what to expect when I headed over there tonight (btw, kobuta, I'll be the one in a mod skirt, if you want to say 'hi'). I have a question about the celery soup - I hate the taste of raw celery, so should I avoid this? |

I made reservations at Erbaluce before the menu came out - highly unusual of me... now the menu's on their website. Any insight as to what I should order? |

They were still named Jo Jo Special Mini Steamed Bun, at least when we went there earlier this week. Tasty, but not very soupy. |

That's the Haw Moak that others have mentioned. Haw Moak * northern thai spices with coconut milk, curry, nappa cabbage, sweet basil & aromatic kaffir leaves steamed in banana leaves for aroma & flavor, a truly traditional dish with a "mousse like" texture |

Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins! I heard a rumor that they're selling the original Jordan Marsh blueberry muffin at Jordan's Furniture in Avon. Jordan's currently exhibiting the Enchanted Village from Jordan Marsh till the middle of January. Feel free to confirm the rumor! |
