Advice: Wisdom Tooth Extraction, what to eat?
^I had all four of mine taken out on the same day as you, I experienced the crying and shaking sensation that you had described.
I've had mashed potatoes for all three days and am already sick of it but I can barely open my jaw enough to eat anything else. I additionally throw in pudding and popsicles to the mix randomly. I can't wait to get back to eating normally but from what I've read here it seems like it will be a while.
I unfortunately threw up twice after eating on the day of the surgery so it would probably be best to keep it light and avoid soda.
M Street/Foggy Bottom/Georgetown Lunch Suggestions?
thanks, where is Garrett's specifically located?
Eats near L'Enfant Plaza Hotel
Nobody likes the orange chicken at Oh's (? sorry its been over a year since I've in the area). I also recommend the Atrium Cafe, bring cash though.
M Street/Foggy Bottom/Georgetown Lunch Suggestions?
Haven't posted here in a while. I have two questions.
First I intern on M street right outside Georgetown and constantly look for lunch ideas. I've been to Uptowner (rip-off), Thai Kitchen (good pad thai, bad pad see-ew and expensive), Thai Coast (cheap and good), Sandellas, George's King of Falaffel and Cheesesteak, Le Pain Quoitediene and Cafe Tu-o-Tu. I was recommended to walk towards L street, where I've discovered Chopt and would probably default to Cosi if I lacked inspiration. I like all types of foods but usually default to sandwiches and am open to various foods. I'd probably go to Booeymongers more if it was closer.
Second this girl I like also interns in DC and I'm thinking about asking her out to lunch sometime. I'm looking for something affordable for two college students and seems like a friend kind of place to go to (if that makes sense). I know she really really likes sushi and my default thought was Kaz, but it seems like the quality there has been slipping recently and its definitely expensive and provides smaller portions. I'd prefer to keep suggestions in the L/M street corridor probably between 21 and 14.
Thanks.
Cheesesteaks in DC? Any suggestions?
on WAMU they were talking about DC foods and segued into legit cheesesteaks, I don't remember any of them except for Philly Cheesesteak Factory. They make them on Amorosa rolls and have cheese wiz (you have to ask for it though) The one in Georgetown burned up and the only other locations I know of are in Tysons Mall and Duke Street in Alexandria.
Good Crab/Seafood in Baltimore?
Well Hal, thank you sir. I went and the crabs were meaty sweet and delicious. I wasn't a big fan of the pepper seasoning but it was interesting.
Good Crab/Seafood in Baltimore?
I've been hearing glowing reviews about Mr. Bill's and its really tempting, but I'd rather continue heading south.
Right now I'm in between CJL and Obrycki but I haven't been able to find much. And I hear Obrycki is a tourist trap
Good Crab/Seafood in Baltimore?
Hopkins proper, although I will be near the hospital later. Right now the preference is for steamed crab over crabcakes.
Good Crab/Seafood in Baltimore?
I'll be out in Baltimore tomorrow, near Johns Hopkins and would like to have some good crab while I'm there. The only place in Baltimore I'm familiar with is Gunning's but thats a little further than I'm willing to go. I'll be heading towards the harbor anyways so any place's out there would be good. Preferably I'd like to avoid Phillips.
Thanks
Where Can I Find Decent Lunch In L'Enfant Plaza?
Well I work at HUD and the cafeteria is pretty unimpressive, their Subway is sub-par (pun intended). And as far as I know you do need a badge to get in.
Is agriculture open to the public?
I'll look into the Native American Museum, I've only been once but didn't really consider the food when I went. But the descriptions make it sound good.
As for the Atrium it's by far my favorite with Oh's orange chicken as a trailing second, but the last two time I've went they haven't had the roast beef. I'll start using the metro in the near future, is the circulator free or just cheaper than the regular metro bus?
I believe I read that the fish market was pretty good as well, but I wouldn't know which places to go to.
Birthday Dinner Ideas?
I appreciate the help, I asked two of my lady friends and we decided on Oya.
My father is probably going to want to take me out for a lunch as well and would like suggestions for that. I'm tired of our typical options and would like to explore someplace new, preferably in Northern Virginia. I like Carlyle in Shirlington especially their banana pudding but realize it's the same thing as Coastal Flats and is a little far.
Also I'll be heading to a graduation at Johns Hopkins this weekend and even though the graduate will probably make the selection, if I'm asked for input whats a nice lunch place in that part of Baltimore?
Where Can I Find Decent Lunch In L'Enfant Plaza?
I've worked in this area for about a year and always find myself in this dilemma of finding a decent lunch. There aren't many options it seems. I'll go to the Atrium if I have cash on me and its nice enough to walk, or the "mall" in L'Enfant plaza and either get Au Bon Pain or go to Oh's for their orange chicken. When I have the time I'll occasionally go down to Chinatown or the Naval Archives and either go to Ella's pizza, Five Guys, Chipotle, Fuddruckers or Potbelly's. I have on occasion walked to the Capitol area and gone to Cosi as well as taken the Metro to Pentagon City. And got a sandwich from the Holiday Inn which was good.
I typically eat at my desk so carry out is important and don't have a preference for style. I typically eat sandwiches but am open to new things especially pasta or rice bowls.
Also I was wondering if anybody knew if you could do carry out at Kaz, I've been wanting to try their Bento box for a while now.
Thanks.
Birthday Dinner Ideas?
Well seven was the absolute minimum I'll probably have more coming, but I guess I'll forget the whole room idea. I appreciate all the input provided.
Chinatown is an area that I'm considering as well. How far (walking distance) is Georgetown from Dupont? I don't have anything against Clarendon, it's just a little out of the way for most of us.
Birthday Dinner Ideas?
I appreciate all the ideas, I was wondering if people left out Hook because of its cost or because it's seafood? Getting a room isn't a must but would be nice.
I'm familiar with the Clarendon area and am not too fond of it. What about Circle Bistro?
Sorry if I seem a bit picky...
Best sushi in D.C.?
What is the best Sushi spot that allows for take out in DC on or near a Green/Yellow or Blue/Orange line? I know Kaz is near Farragut West? but am unsure if I could do take out, I would like to try their Bento boxes.
Birthday Dinner Ideas?
Oh I should add, most of us live in Virginia so if you have any good suggestions for Northern Virginia I'm open to those as well.
Birthday Dinner Ideas?
My birthday is next Friday (the 30th) and I would like to go out and celebrate with my friends. I've been searching high and low for restaurant ideas but can't seem to think of anything good. The issue is my friends and I are college students. I would like to go some place nice. I'm mostly considering DC, specifically Georgetown. As a native I know the Georgetown options are a bit slim. Despite knowing better, I was heavily considering Sequoia because of its view and hearing their private rooms are better than the general restaurant. I've only been once, four years ago on a Sunday afternoon and was pleased with my experience.
Cuisine-wise I'm not sure of what I want (because I have others with me). But we all eat meat, one friend doesn't eat seafood.
Cost seems to be the biggest issue. Typically when we do such things, my friends like to go out to chains like Magiano's, PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory and Coastal Flats. In making my selection I'm considering them and what they may or may not be able to afford. I would like to do 1789, I can pay $38 for their rack of lamb no problem, but I don't know about my friends, I guess 3x Per Person is the max.
Atmosphere is important too, I'll be coming from work so I guess I'd like a place where a guy in Brooks Brothers would be comfortable with a guy wearing a dress shirt and jeans (for my male friends). I'm planning for a minimum of seven people (including me) but would like to get a room if possible.
In case you're wondering why Georgetown, a female friend of mine happens to like it a lot and thought it would be nice to walk around after our meal, especially the waterfront.
Thank you.
Sorry if its a bit long my first post.
