Cakes near Courthouse metro in Arlington?

Bakeshop which is a stop down in Clarendon does cakes as well. There is a Whole Foods there as well.

Shake Shack

It's a good burger overall, but I would not say the patties are anything other than well done, or medium well at best. I had the double shackburger. Topping choices are limited. I personally felt the patties were a little salty. Bread was great, few toppings that are offered are fresh and crisp (lettuce, tomato, onions).

Fries are crinkle cut, yukon golds. Not a fan, but better than I expected. If the line is not long, It's a good burger to have.

Ramps in DC yet?

Radius Pizza in Mt Pleasant. Vidalia had some dishes with them too. Haven't seen them at the farmers market yet, but I'm sure it will be soon.

Where's the shad???

Elyssa is right, shad roe is definitely at Vidalia. I had some myself. If you don't see it on the menu you should ask about it. I saw it this past weekend at the Arlington Whole Foods.

lunch near lansdowne,va

The Wine Kitchen in Leesburg. Always have a lunch special, way less busy at lunch. Always friendly and attentive service. Affordable for the quality as well.

Taste of Burma in Sterling. Really solid Burmese. Also not too expensive, family owned and run.

Restaurant near GWU?

Vidalia. Its on the edge of the west end, but it's pretty great, and the bar has great happy hour and lunch specials. Circle Bistro and Westend Bistro have veg only dishes and are in the FB neighborhood.

One not-too-expensive memorable meal this Wednesday for visiting NYers

Check out Birch and Barley. The food is great and the tap of beers available (Churchkey is above it) is great.

Something similar to Birch and Barley (open on a Sunday pm)?

Their brunch is considered one of the better in the area.

Liberty Tavern in Arlington is open till 9 on Sundays and I think they hit your requirements. In the city Masa 14 is open super late according to their website, but its very diff from Birch and Barley.

They are open till 8 on Sunday, what time were you thinking of eating?

charcuterie in MD or NOVA

There are a handful of folks. Stachowski Brand Charcuterie, Simply Sausage, and Red Apron Charcuterie are some of my favorites. All three you can get at various farmers markets around the area.

Cheap take out in Arlington VA

SInce the original post is from 2006, I think its refering to Delhi Club, which is actually quite solid for takeout. On another note the lunch buffet there is supposed to be a unreal deal. $8.95 on weekdays, and 11.95 on weekends (with an extended selection).

Good breakfast sandwiches in DC?

As a GW alum I gotta mention the GW Deli in Foggy Bottom. I'm pretty sure their stuff saved my life many a hungover morning. Nothing fancy or great, but solid.

Dim Sum in Washington?

Pecan Pie in DC/NoVa?

I love pecan pie and I must say Vidalia has one of the best I've ever had. Not sure if they have it at lunch.

Need recommendation for Old Town

One of my favorite places in the area is the Restaurant Eve bar, great food for not that much.

Besides what has been mentioned:

Eamonn's - Very low key and casual Fish and Chips.
A La Lucia - underrated italian, not super fancy
Bastille - good french
Rustico - great beer tap, good food, casual

Where to buy all-natural kielbasa

I don't know if it's nitrate-free but their stuff is good:

Volt - Table 21 Expanding

I've gone to Table 21 for a special occasion, my 1st year Wedding anniversary, last year. This was before all the Top Chef madness. When we elected to go it was specifically because they were open on a Sunday the day of our anniversary, while other high end restaurants were closed. Volt at the time, was fairly unknown.

I for one thought it was a great experience, wonderful food and service. I don't consider myself "better" than anyone else for going, and I think it's a wonderful addition to Frederick.

Chef's tables are not for everyday or everyone, and luckily there are many great options outside these in the Baltimore/DC area for us all.

Where to get cured ham?

If you want a great Va country ham might I suggest Calhoun's. They have been in the Old Town Farmers market forever and are regarded as one of the best in Va.

Korean food- DC/NOVA

If you really can't get out to Annadale I have heard Mandu in Dupont is pretty good, though not as good as the suburb places.

stuck in crystal city fri nite -- anywhere good to eat?

Cafe Pizzaiolo is good pizza, and casual, near Kabob Palace, and Kora is fine for Italian, by Jaleo.

Febuary is the month of the Vegetarian Experiment

Amma's in gtown and Nirvana on K st for South Indian Vegetarian.

Rest. recommendations in Ballston area

Dennis, if you can make it down to Ravi Kabob down glebe, its worth it. It's def my favorite Pakistani place in the area.

Courthouse-Clarendon-Ballston Carryouts

Yeah, you are right, it helps to have more than one person. On a side note to that though they do allow you to have one half of the pizza one set of toppings and the other half another, if you have two people who want different things, or you want to try to different pizzas and can't pick.

Courthouse-Clarendon-Ballston Carryouts

At some point in the future, Ray's the Catch will be open and seafood focused. In that corridor I can't think of another seafood focused place.

As far as vegetarian, American Flatbread comes to mind. They have good no meat pizza options.

If you stretch over to Georgetown, just over Key bridge is Amma's, which is 100% south Indian vegetarian, and Tackle box which has good take out seafood.
