Dim Sum in Sunny Isles
Five of us dined there today, ate everything, came to only $100 Loved it. Great waiter just in from San Francisco with 20 years experience in the Hong Kong style. We will be back with the kids.
Squash Blossoms in Miami?
I have found "floor-deh-calahbahsa" at Whole Foods and Fresh Market that come from Homestead but they are tiny. I think I realy need zucchini squash flowers.
Emilio’s Bay Harbor Island
What another Italian Restaurant? Yes and a damn good one. Emilio Di Carlo’s pedigree is evident in the quality he is offering at his handsome 75 seat eatery. I’ve been twice with friends and we were ewing and ahing dish after dish. Open only a couple of months it is a well-oiled operation from the warm enthusiastic welcome of Romo, manager/host who must have been born in a restaurant, to his knowledgeable disciplined staff. It really is a gorgeous place with a small private dining room behind the glass walled wine case. The salmon and sea bass carpaccio marinated with truffle oil and lemon was a tasty refreshing starter. The carrot soup had an outstanding depth of flavor. The homemade spinach pappardelle with Amatriciana sauce was a glorious mouthful. I have tasted three different outstanding ravioli stuffed with veal mousse, mushrooms and ricotta with pear. Each had its own sauce, creamy tomato, cheesy mushroom that were fabulous. Talk about sauce, the delicious chicken cacciatore was the best I ever had. Not too sweat or too acidic as it can be. The quality veal dishes are perfectly cooked and as tender as can be. Oh, and the zabaglione alle fragile, well you just have to go. It’s a great menu at REASONABLE PRICES. It’s the kind of place that helps you understand how Italian food conquered the world. The wine list could use a little tweaking as it is from the ho hum "Southern Wine" catalogue.
The best pizza ever Forno52
Ate there today, very, very good. Very well could be the best in the area.

Sardines in Miami
I had a great sardine at Anise part of their Grilled Seafood Fest Dish. They also serve them as an app. Found a 1.5 pound tin of Sicilian sardines packed in salt at Lorenzos.
Fun SOBE spot for group to have heavy apps early evening??

Delano to shut the Blue Door
From Eater Miami
"The time has come for the Delano to shut the Blue Door. But don't fret, the restaurant still remains under the empire of Jeffrey Chodorow and will be relaunched at the end of October as Deep Blue at Delano. Details to follow but we can assure you it's neither a chess playing, Kasparov-beating computer, a nature flick, nor a ride at Epcot."
Could this be a next location for a Jonathan Eismann/Jeffrey Chodorow collaboration?

Sardines in Miami
I love sardines and hunt for them in restaurants in and around Miami. La Bon on Lincoln Road served a good dish of these sustainables way back when. I was disappointed not long ago at Valentino Sul Mare in North Beach which offers “the iconic Sicilian dish pasta con sarde [is] available here made with sardines sourced in Delray Beach.” I couldn’t find any evidence of a fresh sardine on the plate.
But last week a friend of mine coaxed me into stopping at Old Lisbon on Coral Way, a restaurant I have passed by hundreds of times, for a late night bite. She promised a delicious sardine plate and she was right. We both had a plate of 6 thick plump Sardinhas Grelhadas, Grilled Portuguese Sardines $8.95. They also offer them sautéed with onions. We shared Berenjenas Recheadas ao Forno Oven cooked, Tomato and Cheese Stuffed Eggplant, served with fried Potatoes. $15.95. A $33 bottle of Portuguese red wine completed a perfect meal.
Anyone have any new leads?

We had a South African on the Beach a few years ago. Madiba. It was good and the owners were great but couldn't make it and went back to its one location in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

A few of us went to Il Mercato last night and were thrilled by the menu items.
Couldn't resist Braised pork belly, hominy, radish salad, red chile sauce. Spicy chicken wings. The Homemade tagliatelle with Bolognese style ragu was all it could be - great pasta.. The Artichoke ravioli with lemon cream, ricotta and parmesan was a killer. I licked the plate on this one. The sauce was the bomb. “Porchetta” style pork shoulder, soft polenta, grilled greens - crispy flavorful goodness. I had a glass of Tokay before dinner that had a lovely clean spearmint essence to it. We shared a delicious bottle of Fumanelli Valpolicella. All was very reasonably priced. The couple running the place are working hard, she (the chef) has an interesting resume. Check it out!
